View Full Version : GT2 v GT3
Got to WLRC this Sunday with my GT3 spec car.
There was 2x GT3 cars (7.4v LiPo and Saturn 20T) and 1x GT2 car (4-cell and 10.5).
turns out at that track that the GT2 is only slightly faster than the GT3 cars in a straight line.
Will be looking to test a GT2 with a 3.7v LiPo shortly.
Way to go Nigel! I think the 3.7v LiPo is a good option in these GT10 cars, as they all build to weight easily. That means fitting a receiver pack is not only easy, but also not a hindrance. The voltage doublers will be the way to go once we get the Novak ones over here.
Let us know how you get on!

thought so, but wasnt totally sure! :)
are these 3.7V packs going to be the next big thing in GT and 12th racing??
one benefit i supose is that as its only 1 cell you dont need to balance charge!??

i am slightly confused by this, the size thing, as in the EB 2009 rules, rule 3.4 statesFor 3.7v Packs: The maximum case sizes allowed are as follows :-
Length: 93.0 mm
Width: 47.0 mm
Height: 20.0 mm
so does that mean that you cannot use any of the 7.4 saddle packs as they all seem to be around the 30.00mm high mark??

That's because the BRCA 1S list is for a 4 cell NiMH sized pack equivalent LiPo ;)

ok, so what are people supposed to be using in the GT cars??
or have they not decided yet as there are no national series yet???
doesnt really concern me, i am just wondering! :)

Thanks mike, that a shame they are 30mm in height just abit to big to fit in my 12th car.
SMC make a 3.7v pack for 12th cars.

Hello all of you looking at running lipo in your 1/12 cars FYI the trackpower 3200ma 3.7v sadlle pack lipo measure 70mm long/46mm wide/20mm high
also new intellect 4200ma 3.7v saddle pack measure 67mm long/45mm wide/22mm high.
I have used the Trackpower 3200ma single cell with a 6v rec pack and an Orion 6.5 motor on a large track ok in my S120 no problem with duration.
Even better using both lipos 7.4v with a 13.5 motor.
Here is the info on the Demon saddle cells from Nick, the ones that I will be using:
