hi my name is tom and wonder if some of you could help me please.. im after a mardave but stuck on which to get. i've seen loads on ebay like v12's, VRX's, worlds editions, ministocks, bangers, hotrods etc.. what is the difference with the models so i dont get the wrong one. i'm mainly going to be doing circuit racing and the odd occasion of banger racing. plus does any body know of a ruff idea of price wise to get all the gear needed to race..
any help will be greatfull

Hi Tom
The VRX and worlds edition are all versions of the V12 just with different options on them and are all classed as hotrods. The Worlds and VRX were meant for "proper" racing (sorry banger drivers) by that I mean non-contact racing. So really you can't have 1 car to do circuit racing and banger racing. What I would advise is find your local club and see what they run and then make the decision from there. The main advantage of the mardave range is that it is relativly cheap so you would not break the bank to have a VRX for non contact and a normal V12 for bangers. The minis are a bit more difficult to drive and set up so might not be ideal if it is going to be your first car.
Prices are abit difficult new from scratch you will be looking at £180.00 for a banger complete and around £280.00 for a Hotrod complete. Thats Car, Radio, Battery and Charger.
Hope this helps if you need any more info PM me

Yeah MkI escort, Capris and the new Anglia from Kamtec all fit on, the Anglia is a bit long around the boot for my liking. Golf might be a good one to start with on a circuit as it does not have much over hang at the back, or try a starlet (round arched or boxed arch) All hotrod shells will fit the V12 you will have to alter the rear mount length depending on how much over hang the shell has. ie the distance from the rear axle line to the rear bumper (this will be greater on an escort than on a golf because of the boot.)

Hi Tom,
have a look on Kamtec ebay shop. There are a lot of old and new bodies. Andy is right though that usually the shorter the body the easier to drive. 205 , Golf , Fiesta , Starlet , Clio are best. Escort , Calibra and Anglia would all be a bit more twichy. If you use additives the handling is better.
Hope this helps,

If your local circuit allow's additive then you will need additive which give's you more grip (nosram traction additive is cheep and work's well)

Find out if the circuit allows additives then use what they use. Take advice though as its a bit of a sience . It just means you can gain a lot more grip and you can use it tactically.

just a quickie again please is it true on the white abs plastic shells you can use car paint from a can? and would you have to use a plastic primer?

Hey there, any of the shells can be painted from cans. The white ABS you can paint with normal car paint from Halfords but take care with the clear lexan shells, these need a special paint that adheres to the plastic by slighly 'eating' into it. You can use normal car paint from Halfords on a lexan but you would have to key the surface first with some sand paper. So it is best to stick with the proper model painst for Lexan.
PS, just remember to paint lexan on the inside....
Once you have your first shell drop me some pictures.

Oh the phrase granny and suck eggs springs to mind.
With the ABS shells I wash them in soapy water (just like lexans) and then just give it a couple of goes over with some fine wet and dry.
Nice spray job on the Losi...
