i always see the top guys runing the side plate on there wings what does this do or is it just because it looks better?

Yes it looks better. But it also helps keep the car in a better straight line at high speeds.:D

Servo tape.

They add straight line stability and help to keep the low pressure area under the wing by blocking surrounding air from bleeding under the wing.
