Hi Daniel,
The 7-7 is available in two specs, Club and Pro. The Club has plastic bulkheads, motor bridge and kickup blocks, the Pro comes with the alloy versions as well, but the alloy kickup blocks are 2 degree vesions rather than the plastic zero's. The cells were 3mm further back in the chassis than in the 7.6

The 7.6 didn't have the cell trays that the subsequent cars have had, the top decks are 2mm lower, and the wishbones mount directly to the bulkheads. The bulkheads were only available in alloy on the 7.6, although they were offered in Blue or Silver for a time.

The GT3 chassis has shifted the cells 6mm further forward than the 7-7 (3mm forward of the 7.6), it's got a revised front upper deck. The wishbones are now mounted on beams running across the chassis, which allows a lot more options for Kickup/Antisquat, and the hingepins are a lot lower. The GT3 kit will also have the new ULF driveshafts and the threaded shocks.

The GT3 has been going well for me in winter testing , even though i have only run it on very cold , wet and damp tracks the car has loads of steering and carries alot of corner speed. Im looking forward to racing it once the weather gets better so i can see just how quick this car can go.

If you are getting a new car the GT3 kit will be the best one to get once it is released next month some time and it will have all the latest stuff , if you are getting one second hand any of the 7.6 or 7.7's will be a good purchase. Dunno if you will find any GT3's being sold second hand just yet.

Parts for the 7.6 are still very easy to get hold off and Mike S is always very will to offer set-up advice. Despite being the oldest version it still is a very good car.

Yes, but not really a cost effective route, sorry.

I have been playing about on the bench with my GT3 conversion, and even with the normal shocks, I find it even easier than the 7-7 to get the right ride height.

Hopefully next outing will be the end of this month, so should be fun to see how it fairs against the run of the mill tourers ;D;D

At least you wont hear it on the track ;D

The 7-6 is an excellent car. It is virtually bullet proof (unlike some makes). You should be able to pick up a second-hand one at a bargain price - having said all that it is always nice to get a new car!!

As mentioned Mike Smith is only a phone call away for help or parts etc.

Wasn't the 7-7 chassis designed to hold mainly 3300's because of there weight they needed to balance it better?

No Dominic, the 7-7 chassis was designed to run 2400 cells, but due to the extra weight of the GP3300 cells, it makes it a little understeery (to much weight balance to the rear), so the GT3 chassis, part of it is designed to move the weight a little further forward (6mm I think) which brings back the steering to Razor Blade type sharpness.

Yes, Steve's right - the 7-7 has a bit less steering than both the 7.6 and the GT3, although I always found it a bit quicker than the 7.6 anyway.

The GT3 is a bit of an odd one - it's gained a lot of steering, yet it's also more stable than previous versions as well.

Did I forget about that Mike, lol... plus the wishbones are more positively located on the chassis (supported at both ends instead of the mimddle).
