Has anyone tried the new protoform shell? Is it better than the mazda 6?

I have not tried that particular shell, but have found the Protoform shells to be of very good quality and take paint very well... I am currently running two PF 1/10 TC shells and they are flexible in the extreme! some body lines "buckle-in" (especially around the rear bumper lines) rather than fracture which is a good thing...!!

I was hoping it would be, but it seems to have the same issue as the R9 shells compared to the mazda... no rear end grip.

Chris, I am a little surprised by your comment. The R9 I would class as an outdoor shell, as it generates lots of high speed steering compared to the Mazda shells, and the LTC is as better than the Mazda, with good steering and noticeably more rear end at speed due to the rear end deck, wing and shape.

Hi Jim, when you ask "is it better" what do you mean?
I have never used an LTC-R shell but for the last 4 years I have only ever ran a mazda 6. I run a mazda speed 6 during the winter months as I like the added steering responce it seems to provide and I switch to the original 6 when we all go outside.
The mazda 6 gives for me a nice neutral feel and helps me work on car set-up and not worry about strange handling issues generated by funky shell behaviour.

Mike, I've not run these outside yet, just on carpet. I'll give them another go during the summer season.
The Mazda i see as a benchmark really, the speed6 has more 'twitchy' handling than the 6.
The R9 seems to have even more steering, which I've found means that the rear end loses grip.
The LTC was the same for the first couple of minutes, but I adjusted to it and it was ok to drive after that. Some of the lads I race with like it, and some don't.
This is, of course, just my opinion on how they handle. I don't like the DNA shells for example, and I know a lot of people do.

I see this shell is now on the BRCA list, just one question with the rules this year with the BRCA accepting the global body spec rules does that meen the min height is 115mm still the 120mm??

It says accepting GBS bodyshells for submission, it DOES NOT say anything about accepting the GBS rules per se ;)
The accept changes to the dimensions will require a proposal at the next AGM, and membership approval.
