I have a problem with one of the steering hubs on my TC3, the bottom screw keeps falling out, I've looked to buy a new hub but it seems you can only buy them in a complete set? Someone told me you can get a Losi hub which works and is better, is this true and if so what is the part number?

Why not just get the whole set? You have spares then ;)

The blue fastrax ones hold the screws a lot tighter

I wouldn't have thought the rear ones break as often do they?

ive never broken a rear hub, but if you have plastic ones currently then a graphite set would be a good idea is its an upgrade. i had lots of problems with stripping front hubs and ended up with loads of rears spair, i tryed the fastrax blue 1's and havent had any problems since. only think was my friend who had the same problem of strippage, tryed to order some from A**X but they would not sell them to him as the claimed the bent easly. i have not found this at all mine are still totally fine after 6 months and many crashes. The Blueness looks cool too ;D

Hehe silly a**x i had to resort to other postal services ;D. Not had problems with my alloy hubs they seem great. Make sure you use threadlock with them as the screws fall out very easily if u dont.

The rear left hand one twists after a while with sweepers and loses a bit of toe in!

As ffor the fronts.

Put some super glue in the hole, wait a while, then screw in the screw(while off the car), wait till it harderns a litlethen keep screwing in and out without tightenening a few times, Then take out and wai for the glue to set.

Tried it the other day but not run the car yet. it tightens up ok!

y is there a need to use superglue? is this for stripped 1s? never had a problem using normal threadlock. Id stick with graphite rear hubs as ive never broken 1 before + there is no need 4 the alloy 1s.

This does seem to be a problem with the TC3 and is a maintenance issue. You just have to bite the bullet and buy some new ones.

The Losi (shouldn't use a bad word on this thread) hub will fit and increases the steering throw. You'll need to adjust the steering arm lenghts as well. But you'll still have the same problems as the ae ones.

If you use thread lock, and take them off after, it pulls the threads out,

I used glu to rethread it. I didnt want to buy any more cos i can get em at a 5er if i wait! if it goes on sunday il have to get some!

Does anyone know where to get hold of the screws that go into the bottom of the hub? It is part number AS3875, Apex sell them but I've had some trouble with them recently and wondered where else to get them.

A well known 3 letter'd shop in Watford may have some.
if u are realy stuck, the button screws from protoform wings fit nicely. ive had to do that before and it was fine all day until i got the rite ones.

Hi, I have a new Factory TC3 and the first race I got a bit of a bashing and it stripped the top ball joint out of the hub, I tried another and the the same! But I have the fastrak blue ali hubs on now with the top and bottom threadlocked and they are super infact my mate is going over to them as well because of this stripping, He bought a second hand TC3 off someone on this board and going by the amount of stripped hubs that came with it its a common prob. The blue stuff may not allways be needed but the hubs are a defo upgrade and they fit as factory with no play, I think I will need to hit a truck to bend one hope it helps....Ian

I've ran a TC3 for around 3 years now, had the same problem with both the top and bottom screws coming undone. Used to have to check both after every race, and superglued on occasions, this stops you using the screw/ball joint again when you change the hub.

Switched to Losi ones around a year ago, and don't even bother checking them as they never come loose

After reading the replys I got some Fastrax Alu steering blocks, ran with them for the first time tonight and in my first run broke both carriers and a cvd, and the impacts weren't that hard!

Someone said it could be that the steering blocks are too strong now? Do I need Alu carriers aswell or was it just bad luck?
