i have just bought a yokomo ssg and have finished building it, i noticed that when i lift the car off the ground with the motor in and wheels turning that when i do the steering to full lock there seems to be a wierd noise and the front wheels start bouncing. have i built it wrong or wil this stop once the car has been ran for a while
and are the blue rings that go round the outdrives important and what do they actualy do as they were missing from the kit.
thanks

Hey,
are your universals free when you try to make them rotate with some angle with yur hands ? Some drivers had problems with that, they had to dremel the part where the cross joint goes in the dogbone.
Yes the blue rings are important I suggest you go to the shop where you bought the car and report the missing part, they're not that expensive so they should give you the part for free (besides it was missing).
As for upgrades, I suggest buying the hard C-Hubs (SD-4134H) and graphite non trailing hubs (SD-415SG) as they both provides a big improvement in reliability.
Oh, and boil the plastic parts (see post in this section).

Hi i had that problem with the front hubs i had to turn down my steering end piont adjustment as the wheels were hitting the lower shock screws if you follow me only happened if the shocks were in the outside holes
Hope that helps....................

the shocks should not be linked to any of the two outer holes on the front wishbones...

Without the rings, the outdrives could open up a little under power, this will put them under more strain, possibly causing damage in the long term, and also you will have a less direct take up of power.

The rear outdrives carry more force, not the front !
Try getting them asap though it works without them.

They'll foul your wheels at full lock for starters.

I run rubber tires and NEVER seem to have that problem, are you guys running 28mm foam?

You should check better and maybe read better. Even with 24mm wheels the rims will foul the shocks whith the steering at full lock if they're located on the 3rd hole from inside on the wishbone.

Depends how much lock you set your transmitter at.
With lots of lock the wheels will foul the shocks, but you will also screw up your driveshafts and slow the car down round corners.
You shouldn't need that much lock. The less steering lock you can get away with the better.

Hi John,
I agree, I hardly steer that much, but when you race indoors on a very twisty track, you need that much steering !

I had that problem with my SSG until last night when the grubscrew on the cup and ball came loose, this bent the drive pin and sheared a load of material from the ball and the cup, it is now as smooth as you like at full lock (When the hub carrier touches the knuckle on the spindle) Jonathan
