Hi folks, I'm new to this forum so please go easy on me! ;)
I couldn't resist buying a new (cheap) Carbon Mission but before I assemble it are there any tips or mods you can give me?
I've got some alloy layshaft mounts, so that's covered.
What is this 'roll centre mod' that I've read about? Is it worth fitting from day one?
Any other info much appreciated. ;D
Sorry if this has all been covered in previous posts.
Cheers,
Frank.

See the Ask Mark Burgess section for mission build tips.
Hi Frank, welcome to the mission world.
A popular hop-up part that many mission owners use is the RW diff pulleys, they are about £10 each and improve the overall efeciency of the mission.
Unsure about roll centre mod, although i know it is popular too.
If you havent already, have a look through the 'Ask mark Burgess' thread, there is lots of really useful stuff in there.

Yes, the RW diff pulleys would not go amiss if you are going to be racing the beast, from what I understand, the Schumacher pulleys are moulded (I think the template for it might of been a former Homer Simpsom doughnut), and the RX pulleys are precision milled.
Other than that, there isn't much else to change on it I don't think...

Personally i have been running the raised front roll centre since the begining of last season, and the car was defenetly an improvement.
As has been said before the RW pullies are much better, pricey yes, but much better.
Really depends on how far you want to go, for a start i would probably build the car and see how it goes and if there is anything that you feel is lacking.

Well i dont drive a mission........yet.........but i think it raises the lower pivot pins up

Yes it does raise the lower hinge pins, reason for this is it effects how the car rolls in a corner, ie, how the camber adjusts of the wheel, by moving the roll centre in relation to the centre of gravity it alters whether the car leans into a corner, or leans away from a corner.
I run the roll centre modification on the front, but not on the rear as i find this makes the rear to loose, but on a very grippy track where grip roll could be a problem, this is often an aid.
Other mods for the mission most definitely the rw pulleys, if racing stock the grey belts as they do make it much more efficient. Ballast might be worth considering as there is a weight distribution issue with the mission, run 35 grams on the letfhand side. The MIP driveshafts are also a very good modification as they are stronger than the original plastic driveshafts.
Note for gatesy, get that mission bought.

Ah, thanks Ben.
Couldn't the same be achieved with washers under the pivot blocks? How much raising are we talking about?
Thanks again,
Frank.

Frank, It isn't possible to just raise teh blocks on the front. On the rear yes that is the easiest method. On the front the block is also part of teh steering assembly. This needs modifing and then a seperate block using, as well as spacing up the front edge.

The Front front pivot blocks are raised by 2mm, a shorter hinge pin is used and a seperate block inserted at the rear to hold the new pin.
at the rear the kit comes with a 2mm spacer which raises all the pivot blocks, on a large flowing trak this fine, on shorter moe technical tracks we use either 1mm washers or none at all.
The benefit of the kit on the front is that it gives you more sterring mid & exiting the corner allowing you to carry more speed onto the straights.
Without it on the front I found the car had a tendency to understeer out of the corner. The kit improves this either using the normal diff or the one way diff.
RW diff pulleys retail at £8.99, also as Mark & I keep mention Quick clips for about £2.00 are a fantastic addition, allwing easy & quick adjustments to caster settings

Cheers Barry, now I get the picture!
I think I'll build it as standard to start with and see how it goes.
I'm going to get some Quick Clips though, they sound like a good idea.
Thanks again for all the help. I'll let you know how it goes :)
Frank.
