I read the magazines and forums and was wondering where all this GT10 stuff has come from.

It seems to have come out of the blue.

What, How etc.

Is it supposed to run alogside other classes or is it a new standalone class?
Was it run elsewhere before the UK?

While I'm here, save the bodyshells becoming jellymolds and dis-allow anything by Protoform, at the moment that 'Sophia' looks nothing like a real Alfa!.

It's been around for a good while, it's just now becoming a bit more recognised following the World-GT stuff over the pond.

IIRC, it's designed as a stand alone class, for a nice halfway point between 12th pan and 1:10 Touring Cars.

Hi Guys

Just have a little patients, a lot of Wold GT stuff is still work in progress, all I can say at this point is that early indications are this is going to be an exciting class, we ( the BRCA 1:10 Electric Section) have some exciting plans for the lauch of this class and it looks like that will be high profile event in January, more on that later..

Those present at the AGM will have seen the excitment that centred around this class, we have the oppotunity to bring something new to our section, but we just want to make sure we get the rules and everything else right before we dive in with both feet.

Belive me it will be worth the wait...

This class does get off the ground... Been so many other failed attempts to get a pan chassis class back outside on tarmac where it deserves to be...

I do however have reservations about using GT style bodyshells... Would sooner have seen 'Prototype' type bodyshells for this class to give it some identity... [Preferably with 'proper wings' on pedestals rather than twelvth style oversize barn door spoilers]...

REAL racers do IT on tarmac :D:D

Gordon is right - the Vegas IIC racers have really bought this class on and forward. Scotty Ernst is the man to make things happen, as anyone who has heard him commentate will already know :D

It has been embraced by the major Amercian 1/12th manufacturers. I suspect because of the ease of coverting 1/12th designs to the 200mm pan car spec of World GT.

What was voted in at the AGM was the class and a request to encourage racing. It will be a seperate class, and at the moment I'd expect to see some indoor carpet meetings and some opportunities to race outdoors on tarmac. Wether those are dedicated to the class or "tag ons" to existing meetings it is too early to say. I have already been approached by one series, and it will be interesting to see if others follow.

I will start a sperate thread on bodyshells for this class. Our class has started by inheriting the World GT list which is based on mid engined rear wheel drive cars. Surfing or watching British GT or the FIA GT series will show some exciting cars for which shells are available.

Not a discussion for this thread which is all about the origins of the class.

Hi Steve - if when we run meetings for this class, enough people want to race a full prototype class then bring it on. Could be a mix of 200mm and Pro Ten cars.

Cheers
Mark

We had this discussion at our club, and we descided to go with the GT shells too. If you were to run the prototype shells, it would just become like big 12th racing. If you allow Saloon shells, it'll be little different to 1:10 tourers.

Plus, the GT shells look awesome. The rumours of a Protoform DBR9 can't come true quick enough for me :D

If the rules INSISTED on the 'shells being painted in authentic livery... But as most will end up being painted 'buggy style' they'll look, in my opinion, no different to a field of tourers...

Hence my comment about banning PF :p

Sorry, have to disagree about 'prototype' style shells, they look really pants in any scale I see them.

The other shells on that list at least look realistic (IMHO an HPI trait).

An Aston DB9 or DBR9, right, sign me up now! :D

Looks like I'm gonna be in a 'majority' of one on this :o:)...

I wasn't meaning they look good paint wise, i was more meaning the general shape. Long bonnet, sleek cockpit, meaty rear end.

So no Ferrari 360 or 430?
Or Ford GT40?
Or Saleen S7C?

Nope. It's got to be F/R.
