Well there is a lot of opinions going on about what this new brushless class will be, but we haven't heard from the man who put in the proposal.

As far as I can see... although we have vote on allowing a brushless class.. there hasn't been any rules set down to which this class will run. - which is a nightmare.

Chris, do you have the spec of the mardave proposed brushless system and an estimate of the cost.

This can then be debated and rules setup for this new class.

People can then make up their own minds..and ask santa for the relevant prezzie..

Hi Alan
yes it was passed and i advised the Cost of £80 the spec is Mtroniks Speedo and Motor combo
These will be available from Mardave and will be labeled so all motors are from the same batch Ie G2 brushed.
as to rules it was passed at the agm that a new class for the Mardave brushless system would run. All Hot Rod rules are the same other than the Motor/Speedo.
Martin will finalise all other details ready for next seasons championships.

People are already saying they will do both championships so this will make the meetings well attened.

i think what alan is asking for is the technical spec , so it can be compared to other units , our members are asking why use a £80 unit when there are £40 ones available , the more info we all have the easier and quicker this can all be set up as a new fun controlled class of oval racing

You where there and advised i have tried other brands and the £52 pound one we had no come back if it goes wrong.also the other reason we went down the Mardave system was we can set the speed and control it, others have a fully programable stystem that we can't control. If this is not the Case then someone the BRCA commitee please contact me asap.

I am doing both classes
just to see what the difference is like
My dad might end up the same
Also a thought
What will happen at the next hotrod worlds?
will both classes be running? or two different worlds?
one brushed and one brushless??

hold fire Nicholas,

In 2 years time there may be no such thing as a brushed hotrod class. I dont think anyone can answer that right now chap

Just looked on the Mardave site looks good , but I am not keen on restricting the brushless by programming the esc to try and match the G2. Why not just keep the class separate and accept that the brushless will be quicker?

(in any event I really dont see that it will be possible to match the G2 exactly, so the brushless will either be faster = everyone buys it, or slower = no one buys it and sticks to the G2)

Judging by the reception on the forums I think the brushless will prove really popular - good move Chris, thank you.

I agree with all of this.

Why limit the performance of the brushless setup? if everyone runs the same speedo and motor, all you can do is adjust settings using the handheld programing unit that this speedo has?

Or is there a risk that the speedo / motor can be tweaked by some other method?

How can you have both cars? the brushless system isn't available yet?

Or, do you mean you have 2 hotrods? doesn't everyone? ;)
