Hi all,

I was wondering the other day, could it be possibly to run all saloon classes at a whole "world championship meeting"

then you'd have the gold roof in hotrod, ministox and saloon stockcar all up for grabs

what are your thoughts?

Tom

I garuntee if it went ahead it would knock the face off this earth with the numbers of people attending.

for example, the sussex open. a championship title up for grabs under the name of the well known county in the south, but nothing like the title of "world champion". and we've got 101 drivers and another pending so 102 drivers for the championship in sussex.

you can just imagine it. put minis and saloon stockcars into the equation too, then you've got your self one tip top meeting.

I know lots of people that wont attend the current worlds, because they have to travel a long distance only to be able to race one car. Some people see the point of view of it not being worth the journey. BUT, alot of people have either a mini or a saloon aswell and possibly would be much more inclinded to attend the worlds and race more than 1 car. surely this is a good thing?

thoughts guys and girls?

If proper qualifying rounds took place for the Hot-Rods,bar a consolation race before it not an isssue. You could do a European Hot-Rod Championship as well Worlds would be one race,in line with real event.Just ideas lets all work at it,and see how we get on.Central location for all Manchester,Lancashire? just ideas Mouse

I used to race 8th stock cars 15 plus years ago. Up to 90 drivers only 6 cars per race, 3 heats each. Then Quarters, semis and the final. All done on the sunday.
After saturday practice and plenty of beer.

To help with time saloons and mini,s could have 10-12+ cars a race.

Finally we are all waking up Tom Massey is one person on mainland I have the utmost respect for,he talks sense.........Suddenly I want to continue racing 1\12th oval, this thread is great shows others have same views.Just maybe all we can get it on the same pegging as real oval.Look at Spedeweekend how many classes do they run, only one World final it could happen for us,but we need to all agree. Can I just say suddenly this forum has come alive with great threads, still some silly politics but so that is to be expected, you want to be in classic car clubs to see bitchin........Yes and plenty of beer I buy the first round and craic, and banter after......cannot wait Mouse

Yep great idear tom lad, I belive that in the hot rods we need more title meets and why not in the other classes too with the worlds just every 2 year would love to have a best in britain style meet with a format that was dun on ftd after 4 rounds with top 16 making 2 semi finals then top 4 from each to make a grand final to decide best in britain and gain the union jack roof , I rec if we had this and poss a european too it could only be good for 12th oval:cool:

Well how about trying to speak to or involve sum full size oval drivers and have them give out tropheys and or maybe have a go? oh and how about not making the date clash with any other major meetings ;)

Mr Markup

That will be almost impossible because you will always clash with either a model meet or a full size one. I suppose we could do in the off season. are these the same in the model and full size calenders?

Will talk on the yogurt pot and string tommorrow as it is nite nite time for me;)

Yes good on paper.

It always falls down to the same few to organise and run these events, a few say we willl be there, but for everyone of them, not so sure.

In the Stockcars we have titles for, Worlds, European, British, English, Scottish, Welsh, and as the Hot-Rods the worlds title is up for grabs every two years as is the European,
We are just about to go over to Holland for the European event, fantastic weekend of racing and fun, but guess what little support from our section, it will be the same racers that support this event, in February we are going over to Holland to contest the Worlds, it is being hosted by the Fryslan 1 club at the racing expo show in Lleuwarrden, want to bet it will be the same few that support this event, with an odd one or two that make an effort, the Scottish and Welsh titles are run during a BRCA national, i.e. the winner of the final collects the title, not enough support to run a seperate meeting, the English title has not been contested for a few years, not enough interest, and the British Open title has not been run for a number of years also, however we have a meeting for this title coming up at the Hathern club.

The moral of this is too many meetings and titles takes away the interest and prestige of the thing, this is one of the reasons the Worlds is run every two years, with the Stockcars the Worlds is run one year followed by the European the following year, so there is a major title up for grabs every year, not forgetting the national points title every year,
We also have four classe's of racing at the nationals, do we need any more?
we are in a situation where the nationals are struggling for support, support these and there might be a call for bigger meetings if numbers of racers indicate this.

Look at the facts, yes the Hot-Rod worlds were a success, but remember the last time, lack of support! caused the cancellation of the event first time.
