So far indoors I have run 5.5 on 50mm/rev and 6.5 on 55mm/rev (4 cell)
I have only run outdoors once but was on 60mm/rev on a 5.5 and it was Bl**dy quick.
As a generaly rule of thumb I have started 4-5mm higher than 12th scale and gone up from there

SO then GT Master, what about a 10.5 indoors??

I would start at 61-62mm/rev and go from there.
4 or 5mm/rev taller than 12th scale cars are only 175g hevier and race is 3 mins shorter so should be ok temperature wise.
Our friends across the pond are suggesting 70mm/rev for 13.5 on small tracks.

how comes these cars are geared taller, i would expect a heavier car, which probably corners slower?? to be geared lower, obviously comparing like for like with no. of cells used?

Because races are only 5 minutes, so duration and heat build up are less of a problem than with 12th. If you could gear your 12th taller without over heating your 10.5 or dumping your modified you would because most of the time it would be quicker.

How did the speed compare to mod tc?
Thanks.

Straight line speeds were about the same, corner speed was better so laptime was a bit quicker on flowing circuits
Much more fun to drive though

Jaco double pink fronts and aqua rears were the best we found when we ran at Bedworth
Jason
Brushed motors are different. I ran a 12x2 at Bedworth on 60mm/rev, but that comes down to under 50mm/rev indoors. Car was as fast as Jason's on the twiddly bits, and just a gnat's slower on the straight. I'm keeping an open mind on ratios as Bedworth is tight for an outdoor track.
I like Corally Silver Star rears and Jaco 2x pink fronts for my car on tarmac. Indoors 2xpink all round works very nicely. Jaco have some control tyres (Lilac) that have received rave reports in the US. They apparently give excellent grip and wear like iron. We'll be investigating them for suitability as a control tyre.
Don't forget that these cars run the tyres with no stagger front to rear, so we only give one tyre size when asked! Outdoors run them between 58 and 55mm dia, and indoors from 55mm down to about 52mm. You can run outside these sizes if there is a lot of grip, so providing that you have enough races on both surfaces, tyres can go from box to rim - no waste!
Looking forward to getting this class going, it's a real joy to drive!
