I am thinking of buying the above budget modified motor. I was just wondering if anybody has used one and what do they think of it. I am currently runing a Orion chrome touring 12X4 and it is to fast for my skill level at the moment. But the venom at £18 being rebuildable seems good vale for a club racer like my self.

Others may disagree but...
I always blow up 'budget motors', and yes the gearing is correct and there is plenty of ventilation.
I'd go for a 19 super stock...

a little bit off topic here, but wot do ppl fink of buying very cheap modified motors and taking the armature out of them and putting them into a proper modified motor can?
such as the team orion havok motor.
i am lookin to get some cheap extra life out of a motor but £26 odd quid for a good new arm is too much

It's a complete waste of time and money.
The armatures in cheap motors are built down to a price (along with all the other components) so will not last long when subjected to use in a full blown modified can.
You will not get comparable performance to a hand wound arm either.

lol, well that solved that then.
is there actually anywhere where i can get a good handwound arm for under £26?
but then i guess it wont be good unless its expensive. hmmm
i plan on getting a peakracing vantage modified for my next motor so i get better life out of it ;D
cheers mate

You can buy brand new armatures in top spec for under £30. I bought a new KR 12*2 the other day which as I recall came in as under £30, our local club model shop guy also has some older ones like reedy Ti's for around £20 as I recall though there is almost no choice of wind.

Just to answer my own question purchased one. So slow :'( but the armature seems good so I have poped that in the orion can working fine. I guess the moral is dont get suckered in with a cheap price.

To be fair you have gone from a 12 turn motor to a 15, it was hardly gonig to be quicker was it?
Refine your skills on this one, then go back to your chrome!

Sorry didnt i make that clear at the start? :) I was not expecting a £18 15X2 to go faster than a 12X4 £50+ full blown modified! :)
The idea was to get a slower motor to improve my skills but this was so slow I did not have come of the power for any corner no mater how tight. If i would have wanted do that I would have got a scalectric!
