Tuesday 2nd September, Dickson Lane, Milton Of Balgonie, Leven Model Car Club, K.O 6.25pm Approx.
Tonight sees the running of the Scottish Oval Championship, with the winning taking all, and the saltire on the roof. With the numbers been down a few weeks, this should pull everyone in, with a turn out of 10 the week before. All the big players should be in attendance, but the hot favourite for the title has to be Allan O'Brien (964), breaking the lap record with a 76, and taking the meeting final previously. With the Club championship up for grabs, between Craig Brown (127) and James Thompson (70) they certainly are in with a good chance of taking the spoils, holding Superstar/Red status respectivley.
There is a good turn of of Blues, with Sam Sutherland (206) being a threat from nearer the front in a well prepared, and very quick car, just too inconsistant for the big race, but could be there abouts. Club veterans Ian Roper (251) and Neil Ritche (33) look like they could be there, or there abouts, although both had dissapointing meetigns the previous week, with nothing going for them, could lack that killer punch and kick to put up and sort of challenge. Alan Stewart(282), back after a few meetings away, came back just in time to get the car set up again to try and retain him Scottish crown....time will tell, was going well last week until family commitments forced him to retire!! Newcomer David Badura (258) only has that half a lap head start, but was going well last time out getting a PB 70 in three races...might be hard to catch from the front though.
Shaping up to be a good event, with a few of the top boys are pushing for victory. Could boil down to James Thompson (70) battling it out with Allan O'Brien (964) with both going at it in the last couple of finals, but Allan taking victory on both occassions. 1-2 predicted, but the unforgiving corners could make all the difference...as could a back marker! I predict...-
1. Allan O'Brien
2. James Thompson
3. Neil Ritchie
Hopefully a few drivers will come and support the even, with Andy Morrison (51) Kevin Falconer, and Allan Williams (305) maybe making an apperance for the main event.
