Tuesday 2nd September, Dickson Lane, Milton Of Balgonie, Leven Model Car Club, K.O 6.25pm Approx.

Tonight sees the running of the Scottish Oval Championship, with the winning taking all, and the saltire on the roof. With the numbers been down a few weeks, this should pull everyone in, with a turn out of 10 the week before. All the big players should be in attendance, but the hot favourite for the title has to be Allan O'Brien (964), breaking the lap record with a 76, and taking the meeting final previously. With the Club championship up for grabs, between Craig Brown (127) and James Thompson (70) they certainly are in with a good chance of taking the spoils, holding Superstar/Red status respectivley.

There is a good turn of of Blues, with Sam Sutherland (206) being a threat from nearer the front in a well prepared, and very quick car, just too inconsistant for the big race, but could be there abouts. Club veterans Ian Roper (251) and Neil Ritche (33) look like they could be there, or there abouts, although both had dissapointing meetigns the previous week, with nothing going for them, could lack that killer punch and kick to put up and sort of challenge. Alan Stewart(282), back after a few meetings away, came back just in time to get the car set up again to try and retain him Scottish crown....time will tell, was going well last week until family commitments forced him to retire!! Newcomer David Badura (258) only has that half a lap head start, but was going well last time out getting a PB 70 in three races...might be hard to catch from the front though.

Shaping up to be a good event, with a few of the top boys are pushing for victory. Could boil down to James Thompson (70) battling it out with Allan O'Brien (964) with both going at it in the last couple of finals, but Allan taking victory on both occassions. 1-2 predicted, but the unforgiving corners could make all the difference...as could a back marker! I predict...-

1. Allan O'Brien
2. James Thompson
3. Neil Ritchie

Hopefully a few drivers will come and support the even, with Andy Morrison (51) Kevin Falconer, and Allan Williams (305) maybe making an apperance for the main event.

No one took any photos, as there was only 5 people that turned up for it, and to be honest...alot of people didn't know when exactly it was, and there were a few 'fall outs' over the last few weeks.

Allan O'Brien (964) took the Scottish from James Thompson (70) completing 73 laps and 70 laps respectivley.

club rules restricted who could and could not race which will have aided the low turn out.

well done allan. predictable result given recent form but deserved none the less.

maybe see you all on friday

You would have thought. I don't think that was the case, and there was one very upset driver, who was trying to stop Allan and Myself racing, and tried his best not to let us race, for some reason...

Andy Morrison said he wasn't coming back, yoruself never turned up, Neil turned up, but just to help set up the computer and went away again, as did Allan Stewart who blow up his motor the night before and stayed for a few races, Ian didn't come after a coming together the week before, and Sam didn't bother turning up either....maybe for the same reason, which is how there was such low numbers....and could have been even lower if me and Allan didn't race the 5 weeks previous, which would have been a really bad turn out.

i didnt turn up because i had been told prior to the meeting i would not get to take part, andy was under the same impression and although the 2 of us were unhappy with the poor quality of motors we had bought the other week we would have come and took part anyway but had been told that it had been proposed and voted in at the last club AGM that in order to be allowed to run in the scottish you had to have taken part in at least 50% of the club points season which neither of us had which therefore ruled both of us out,

if that turns out not to be the case then someone has some explaining to do!

I think that was the case, but it was down to the stewards discretion i think. I'm sure Allan had taken part in 6 weeks prior to the Scottish, and Myself 5 so we had been going for a while, and i think since since Andy and yourself only turned up the week before, there would have been arguements.

To be fair, i think all the rules need to be changed, and sorted, well...atlest quite a few, and i know that some people are staying away just because one driver who turns up every week...

hi to clear some of this up you only have to be a club member to race .i was night shift and only left work to set up the computer so could not race .sam only races banger/hot rod meetings as he stays in aberdeen. iain had other things on.and andy and kev could have raced but would have had to pay membership to be encluded in the result.
so were some of this info came for is very wrong we welcome any racers.

hiya all
i think we may req a clarification from jt as he had also said to me that i would not be able to race in the scottish final meeting as i had not done any meetings and the requirement was that to enter you had to have competed in 1\2 the club rounds previous
i turned up that nite ready to race and even had my membership form all ready filled in
my experiance in the past is that the scottish title for any class where the saltire roof grade is up for grabs is open and the lion rampant roof grade is a closed meeting
ah well there is always next year
