Does anyone have any info on these engines reliability issues etc. I have found the sts website and these engines seem cheap im just wondering if they are reliable.

We ran STS motors in National rubber events last season. No problems. Quick and easy to set-up.

PC has new batch in. Some mods but exactly what I do not know. I will ask him tomorrow. I am told the unrun motors seem tighter than before, whether that is good or bad we shall see.

Got a S 710 and a NovaMax Fantini tuned engine (£250) for national level. Now with this engine being so expensive I wanted a cheap engine for club level so I opted for the STS 5 Port Dragon (£95), thinking it wont be super quick but it will do ok for getting a chassis set up. How I was wrong...
The engine flys! I am still amazed by the speed from it. its already quicker round the track than my NovaRossi .12 5port turbo, and its a dream to tune.
Running in is dead easy becuase the instuctions it comes with are great. Piston and liners are the same price as those out of a Kyosho Readyset!! These engines last a long time and also, if you do find your self needing to replace it/the engine, its a fraction of the cost of other top manufactures.

Hope this helps you..

What is the secret of starting these motors?
I have found it so tight that a starter box with 19t motors will not turn it over.
I've tried after run to lubtricate it - doesn't work.
I've tried fuel to lubricate - doesn't work.
I've taken the plug out - only just turns over.
Only after heating the motor with a hairdryer do I get it to turn over, but even then in still locks up.
It has taken over 10 hours to get this motor to fire up just once, and now trying to start it again has killed the starter box.
I have also destroyed the flywheel, stripped 3 motor bolts, ripped 2 manifold rubbers, and now have a blister on my left hand.
I was hoping to run it in today but the way it's going I may well bin the thing and go back to my 3 year old S3.

Got it to fire and run for more than 5 seconds at last.
The bottom end setting was at 5 1/2 turns, I turned it down to 2 turns and now it starts.
(so much for factory set carbs)

I didnt have that much trouble with mine, it did lock up but the trusty pliers sorted that. I think its just a very tight engine.
Only took me about 4 hours to run it in nicely.
