Jubilee Arena in Bury Lancashire are now intending to run 1/10th nitro cars on a regular basis (tuesday and saturday nights i think) I went to the "closed doors" meeting last night, There was a good turnout some fast times were done fast 21 lappers by Ryan Donovan(mugen) and Paul Knapton(serpent) the record for modified electric is 22/306 so not that far behind.

All in all a good night with some well known foam drivers there aswell as some of the scale rubber stars.

One of the extractor fans failed but was doing its job properly untill then but this will be fixed very soon, The noise was not bad at all it will be compulsory to use a INS noise reduction box to keep the noise even lower.

I think this will be a popular venue for nitro cars especially when its raining outdoors ;) checkout http://www.jubileearena.co.uk for further info.

the ins box was only introduced as the venue is indoors and the club want to keep the noise to a minimum, there was a db meter used last night and the ins box equiped cars were significantly quieter than those without,

Jason. last night was an open tyre meeting but future meetings there will be foam/rubber classes having said that bruce thompson managed a second place with his rubber shod touring shell NTC3 behind a foam shod Lola shell car!!

Great to hear of an indoor venue allowing nitro cars. Somewhere warm and dry to get some racing in over the winter. Must try and get down sometime for a run.

Good idea to enforce INS boxes as anybody who raced at the Bingley hall events a few years ago will remember how sore their heads got after a while and they do make a significant noise reduction without any great effect on performance. Fortunately, I've got one from my .15 racing days but at around £15 it's hardly a budget shattering investment.

At the scale euro's last year they were mandatory and the Mugen one seemed most popular as it was reckoned to have less effect on performance and was easier to fit under a saloon shell. The Serpent one is a bit quieter but there's not much difference between them on a .12 engine.

Not true that the carb inlet holes the same, it's restricted to 5.5mm in rubber but no restriction in foam class. With or without the INS box, I would guess the car with the bigger stinger outlet would be noisier but for both classes max noise level is 77db at 10 metres under BRCA rules and 82db under EFRA rules. In any event the INS box only cut's down inlet roar and has no effect on the exhaust.

Ok Guys Just to clarify the situation the Jubilee arena have said that an INS box must be used when the shop onsite can supply them. And it isnt limited to the serpent one either.

First Official Nitro Meeting is Tomorrow 7th Feb Booking In At 6PM

And then every Tuesday,Thursday and Saturday Evening after that.
