Quick question for ya: a few people have recommended to me that I replace my MTroniks Viper Eco 20 with a Marine 20 cos the marine version has an instant reverse on it.
Thing is, the Marine 20 states a minimum voltage of 6v - which I assume a four cell pack will probably make easily, but I thought I'd ask in case anyone had an experience with these?

Mtroniks do a speed controller made for the oval, called the Viper oval. Cost a bit more but if you shop around i think that you can get them for around the same as the marine. This speedo i think, came 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the sussex championships last year. The top hotrod drivers were using so must be a good speedo if they prefer it to the speedmaster.

I've seen them at £40, but if I'm spending that, I 'spose I'd be better off buying the V12 kit WITH one for £65 really...
Whats the difference though, between the Oval and the Marine? Different progression through the throttle? Quicker response? Just curious, as on paper they ought to do the same thing...I'm sure they dont, but just wondering...

That said, Hunter Systems have them for less than £30. Hmmmm, dilemmas dilemma...

Not sure Mardave include in their kit. I just bought a Speedo from them and it was £59.95. Rebadged V60 i think.
The Marine speedos require a minimum of 5 cells. I have seen them used at WRCC and under load they keep stopping.
The Mardave ESC, RRP £27, is made by MTroniks for Mardave oval racing. It is based on the ECO 20, but has instant reverse. I use one and it is fine.

Wonder which Viper Marine speedo you have been using then as have been running one for 18 months on 4 cells in both Hot Rod and Mini.
Not a bad speedo for less than £20 !

Ian, the older ones were okay for use with 4 cells. Mtroniks changed the spec. last year, hence the reason your 18 month old ones work.
