Ive been offered a virtually new TC3 Factory and am considering buying it.My other option is a new XRay Evo2.Either one of these is to replace my aging but reliable SST2000.
My main concern is durability as in the time ive been racing the SST (and hit virtually everything possible on the track) all that has gone wrong is a bent drive shaft.Any opinions as to the durability of the two aforementioned possible replacements would be welcomed.
I race on a smallish polished school hall floor with Schumacher yellow mini pins being the prefered choice for grip and will probably be running a 19Double or 17 double modified motor.

I've run my TC3 all last year for the BRCA nationals and broke very little, only on very big impacts did I break items (like the armco at WLRC). You just have to do regular maintenence and make sure everything is screwed together.

As this is an Associated thread I will say the X ray is rubbish!!!!

Only kidding, I generally pit with the X ray lot at the track so I can honestly say that the car is very reliable and just as good as the TC3.

Personally I went for and am sticking with the TC3 because of the backup from CML, if you look on there website there are setupsheets covering most major circuits and tire choices.

Hope that helps.

All I can say is I went for the shaft drive, I have gone through to many belts on off road from stones etc, even my mission I have is shelved due to the problems of debri entering the diff drives and cutting or shredding belts, even tried stone guards...The TC3 has the problem of grit or stones in the steering rack which can cause notchy or locked steering if used outside!! but there is a mod you can do from the associated site with a lexan guard that is the only critisism, but the set up manual you can download for a few quid and the backup is second to none for me. The fact of the new offroad buggy using tc3 transmission shows it is a proven system. If you can afford it buy try it then make up your mind if not I'll buy it off you for a spare ;D thats my 10p worth. I am new to the tc3 but love it....Ian

For what its worth, having raced a TC3 since it first came into the country you cannot go wrong with this car. However, if you have the occasional acccident then the X-ray is a very strong durable car. Better still, find a Barracuda R2 or R3 (if you want the newest) you get the benefits of the TC3 shaft drive the durability of an X-ray. Enough said!! :)

the tc3 is an awesome car and id say the xray is better!!!!

the only problem is that is almost impossible to get spartes for them, even ben cosgrove told me that he has trouble gettin them and had to order straight from xray.

so if i were you and the choicee was either of them id go tc3, but overall id say yoke sd ssg

I dont think this cover is available. tried to get it before from ap** models and they said its discontinued. dont know if this is true. What ever you do to solve this DO NOT get the fast trax alu steering rack as it is poo. i got it, put it on the car, and sent it straight back as the servo saver doesnt work unless the screw is dead tight, when the screw is tight the car wont go because the screw catches on the front input shaft.

Hope this helps.
