Ive just bought and installed two diff re-build kits onto my TC3 diffs, and after tightening them to what the instructions says (1/2 turn from tight) they are still quite stiff. Will they "free-up" as I start using them again?
Any help please

When i bought the diff rebuild kit, i noticed that the diff rings supplied had no 'flat' edge in the centre hold compared to the stock ones that sit on the ridge of the outdrive. Does this make a difference?

You probable bought the diff rings for the old steel diff.

The first diff available for the TC3 was a heavy steel diff with a slightly different construction.
The newer light-weight diff requires D-ring style rings.

This is the steel diff:

And the lightweight diff:

f.w.i.w. the Steel diff is about 30 grams, the plastic is 15 grams.

I don't think you'll find it makes any difference.

I have the steel diff. What parts to I buy to change to the lightweight one? Is it just the outdrives? Or do I need the diff rebuild kit as well?

I think you just need the outdrives. I could be wrong though. ;D

I ended up loosening the diffs up some more as they were way to tight. The are both now 1 full turn from full tightness and work a lot better. ;)

Full tightness as "fully compressed spring" or "fully compressed spring and plastic outdrive".
Half a turn is enough but it is hard te feel when the spring is fully compressed as the plastic diff has some give in it.

The plastic diff uses bushings instead of bearings and D-style rings instead of round ones. There may be more differences.
I'd buy new diffs and keep the steel ones as spares.
If you really want to know I could check the manuals (got the old and the new one) for part numbers. In that cause send me a PM.

i have used both the metal and plastic diffs, the metal ones are definitely not as good as the plastic ones. i swapped them over in my tc3 and it went much better witht he plastic ones. they're newer and a bit better design me finks.
and lighter :D
