I was just checking this out on the Mardave site - its a conversion kit apparently, with front and rear bumpers and side nerf bars - does this mean people/clubs will be running these in with stock cars or with other V12s? Just curious...

We run them every Tuesday, along side "Historic Hot Rods":

They could've done some better pictures of it, I gotta say...

JimH - have you got hold of these already then? Mardave told me they wont have them for a few weeks. Did you get a jump somehow?

Chris: Thanks a lot buddy, I'll be very interested to see what comes out of that. I doesn't LOOK the part to race in with the usual F1 style stockcars I don't think, but if it brings new blood into that particular niche of 1/12th oval racing then so much the better! If I were a beginner again I wouldnt EVER think to try stock cars as my class of choice, cos there isnt a kit out there.

We also race them, 8 at first meeting with another six being built, ours are all mardave v12's with manic front/rear bumpers, wolfie at wrcc made side nerf bars & front/rear over riders, 4 cells with esc or manual and we are toying with rubber mardave tyres, had them on the rear of mine & phil 408 used them all round & we was side by side across the line, cant post pics but they are on our site,

One of our drivers, Graham "Wolfie" Coles, made the "Ford Pop" shell you can see on our website. His idea was a low cost introduction to oval racing, with contact allowed but not complete carnage as in bangers. The advantage for beginners is that they are cheap, you can use an electronic speedo (we put a maximum spend of £30 on the ESC), but you are allowed to bump. So nobody minds the occassional crash from a beginner, but it is not a "violent" as bangers, The idea caught on and Mardave commissioned Wolfie to make the Topalino shell.

We call them "Historic Formula 2 Stockcars", and are "replicas" of the full size class which is raced regularly around the country - and would never race against F1 stockcars. www.spedeworth.co.uk (http://www.spedeworth.co.uk/formulas/thora.html)

Hi All
Pictures are being done as we speak so i will have some better ones soon. Mr Coles was asked if he would do the mould for Mardave and will a few finishing touches it will be ready soon. they only got the jump on you because Graham is mad about Historic stock cars and badgered me into doing one.
Thanks for Pics Rob (still waiting for replt from my last e-mail i sent you):D

Ive been racing a model Y (I believe its another of Mr Coles, made by Kamtec) in our Stock Rod class
Its completly standard apart from the shell and more than holds its own against the grids of modern hatches :-)
