non slipper layshaft

can anyone please tell me if they have ever tried to straighten the lay shaft,as mine is just slightly bent so that the spur doesnt mesh properly as it leaves a tight spot,if it can be straightened which is the best way to do it,i was thinking of a hammer on a flat surface and lightly tapping it???,or is that a bit of a bodget and scarper way

you said it!!!!..LOL, nah i haven't ever tried to straighten one. Guess it may be possible as the std layshafts aren't hardened.

suprising what a hammer can do ;D,layshaft is now straight as a dye 8),saves me a few quid anyway :P
