Just wondering now that the out door racing is almost over how many of you guys had decided to go back to the xx4 from the xxx4?? personally i find the car very twitchy and the shock tower go a bit, but id rather have this than the rear belt go like the old car did.

what's your opinion?

XXX4 is a cool car, ok so it's harder to drive than the xx4, but bear in mind that the xx4 is by far the easiest to drive 4wd ever made!

The new car is super efficient, accelerates really hard and responds to set up better.

Also the xx4 took about three years before it handled right, give the new car a chance!

If you are racing on carpet, slam it to the ground, limit the shocks, and then dial out the grip..... especially if you are on carpet!!!

XXX4 is ace, like Cree said look how long it too to get the xx4 working.

XXX4 is faster than the old car, much harder to drive, and does not like bumpy tracks YET.

it is also better as a XXX4 not an XXX3 as myself and Cree found out on sunday ::)

I had thought of going back to the xx4 after the debacle at the Euros (Milzy look debacle up in the dictionary!!) but I have decided to stick with the xxx4.

When the xxx4 goes it goes. As rich c said it accelerates so much quicker. Touch wood I haven't broken a shock tower yet, the best way to set it up seems to be very stiff on the front and very soft on the back.

Anyway thats wot I think.

Oh and Dom i've still got my xx4 if u wanna swap??!! ;) ;D ;D

agree with doddy, im leaving the XXX4 in the loft till its sorted cos i'm not good enough to get it working properly.

i took one look at doyle's car on track and wanted another XX4 cos his was sweet..........and it's gone well all year!

and stu mahons looked good.......for one lap!

BTW MILLZY ---- u snap belts wen you dont set the slipper!

I think like with ALL cars that have been in circulation for a few years, then a new one brought out, until people are familiar with the new car, the old one will ALWAYS feel more planted to the track, mainly because you have learnt the old cars idiosyncrasis, and settled on a happy setup, but with the new one, it is an up hill battle.

Dont give up on it, cause if you learn the setups for the new car, then you are at an advantage over others....

The problem with mine is that the rear diff keeps seizing up after about 3mins every run then the car useless. i run the losi front one-way BTW.

tryed about 5 new diffs all different combo's i.e metel/plastic outdrives, new balls/old balls, new thrust/old thrust and NOTHIN WORKS!!!

When you say they are seizing up, do you mean physically seizing or the diff tightenning itself up??

Matd

Thats because you put glue all over the bearings and out drives mate ;D

found that I had a xxx3 as well chris i thought the car was worse than ever a the last national! :(
Tried the diff in the front today though and the car was much more driveable on a bumpy track than with the one way :)

i have a mint xx4

i have tried someones xxx-4 and that is as far as it went.
its like driving a barge on a narrow canal- imposible wat ever is done.
i like the fact that it is very quick and has great acceleration out of corners but doesnt jump very well for me and doesnt go round corners very well

Even after the disaster I had yesterday (finished 2 out of 5 races), I think?? I'm gonna stay with the xxx4. Of the 1 qualifying race I did finish I was on the pace, if it hadn't been for back markers I might have made the A and secured my F2!!!!

Oh and Dom, the XX4 is still there if you want it :) ;) ;D

cheer doddy u arse!

think the problem has been solved but i don't know how!!! basically i bought new metal outdrives and the thing doesn't seize.

before it was tightening up NOT locking.

goin back to an XX4 so it's pointless anyway, went well at the F2's when i didnt drive like a nutter so when the XXX4 is more developed i will go back to that.

I'm deff sticking with mine, i did a lot of testing with it b.4 the f2s and the car felt so much better, it was stable all day and went over the bumps fast enough for me, its the best the car has gone all year, and i t was 100 times better than the set up i had on the car when i went to Telford for a practise run( not cheating they had a regional their.)

i just was to try it with the new towers and 0.9 shock shafts.

slimboyfat

is it right that the original XXX4 shocks are the same size as the XX4?

Doomanic

Yes, shock body and shaft are the same.
