hi guys .......

i have cooked three motors in the last month with no aparent reason for this to happen........as far as im aware they were geared spot on and i skimmed, brushed and cleaned them when they needed it....i also was running them on the standard timing settings........i wrecked an orion core 12 double, and mtronicks vision pro 12 triple, and an orion havok 13 double........i have also wrecked a trinity chameleon 19....

i run 19 turn usually and have ran a matrix all season and a p2k2pro also with no problems at all........

im using integy 3300's, mtroniks cube speedo and run a yokomo sd...

what seems to happen is the plastic under the brush hoods melts on one side puting the hood of line and then it cooks the armature......

i have no idea how to solve this but i would appreciate any advice you can give as im going through motors like there was no tommorow...!

cheers guys...

regards

gordy!

Assuming that the car is running free, and that it is different brands of motor....

Are you running torque limit on your Speedo Gordon, as I think this has been covered elsewhere.

Being that you are using 3300 cells, and it has been hot anyways, I am just thinking you have over powerd the motors....

Only reason I ask, is that those cells can give out some REAL power, and that it has also been warm, and tourers don't give the best cooling either.

And I think you are a bit of a throttle jammer if I remember from another post, so maybe the new car is giving you WAY too much confidence aye....

Wanna swap cars again... he he he

heh......no thanks....the losi was good but not as good as the yoke....and....ive been trying to get smooth with the old throttle finger which i must say has been helping in more ways than one.....i managed to qualify in the a final the last two weeks..........lapped all the guys in my normal heat twice in the qualifiers............then i burnt out the motor....lol.....it was going great guns too!

gordy!...........(p.s. mtroniks vision pro great value so ive been told......may be worth a look fir the losi....)

mtroniks cube speedo

Gordon, sorry but this is probably the reason.

I know with one of the very first Cubes released, we cooked 3 motors on the trot, the power was great, while the motor runs! We had brush shunts unsoldering themselves and the armatures were going purple, had it replaced, same problem. Changed speedo make, same motor, same gearing, no more problems. I also know we were not the olny ones having this problem. However, have since been running the Cube in a 1/12th scale - with 27t motor on six cells, absolutely no problems at all!

Definately not knocking the Cube, it is a great little speedo, but I think it was later redesigned to overcome this. Try contacting M'troniks about having it checked/updated/swapped out for the later version, their support and service is excellent.
