New RCLab Developments in the pipeline:

A new improved design of drive-shaft in alloy/steel with reversed captive CVD and bell should be available soon, they are on their way from the machine shop right now.

As you may, or not, be aware, we have just designed a new lower hinge pin mounting system and expect to be testing this in the near future. Just keep checking our team car to see if it has these mods on.

At the same time, we hope to have the integrated servo saver should be in for production, so they should be available soon now.

I have just completed the drawings for a completely new lay-shaft assembly. We are planning to do away with the separate lay-shaft pulley and trilobe drive boss. Going to a larger diameter alloy lay-shaft with integrated spur gear adaptor, new larger lay-shaft bearings, with new machined pulleys (in acetal) using 2mm drive pins (no grub screws at all), initially a 15t pulley, but planning to have 16t, 17t and 18t pulleys later on. This will result in a lighter lay-shaft assembly, that runs absolutely true with nothing to vibrate loose or strip.

Next development item planned (after the lay-shaft is done) is a complete revamp of the differentials. The design is currently being refined, but it will be completely acetal, similar to the previous optional diff, acetal diff pulleys, captive internal thrust with larger externally adjustable thrust screw.

Sounds Interesting :)

Soumds good - but waht about us poor people North of Watford :) who never see the car? any chance of some pics??

I consider this one essential :)

Again - a very sensible and useful change - but in alloy? I am sure you have looked into it but will alloy take the stress?

Just my thoughts but already looking forward to the upgrades

Here you go then - at the RCLab UK website! (http://www.modeltech.co.uk/rclab/77dev.htm) (hint - it is the first news item on the News page George ;) )

I'm more interested in the two-part front upper deck fitted to the car in the prototype pics....

Is this going to be tested?

More on that soon..... ;)

Looks great ;D but raises a couple more questions

Is that a new chassis? - mine does not have the locations for the front mounting holes.

Are the spacers there to make the wheelbase adjustable?

Mike

Will the new diff assemblies include dust free, clip on side plates? Similar to the X-Ray ones, and hopefully this will do away with the diff pully glue-on side ring which keeps falling off?

The new lower arms appear to be similar to the Tamiya Red Rocket ones as shown in this months RRCi. I assume that will mean a new chassis as the mounting holes are not there on any of the three cars we have. That will be costly to install.

Any idea when the latest driveshafts will be available? I'm still waiting on the Titanium ones coming. Aare these going to supercede these as John's Drivehafts on his outdoor car are desperatley requiring replacement. I've been hanging off, as instructed by you, to purchase new drive shafts as you said the TI ones were coming soon.

Also, any sign of the blue steering blocks to replace the plastic one which keep stripping?

I agree with George, the kit servo saver is a bit of a let down to the whole kit and soon gets very sloppy. Not that we use it but other drivers do!
