Hi,

Can anyone tell me an easy way to remove these when rebuilding the diff?

Also has anyone ordered spares - what are the part no.? The manual seems to suggest either U1954 or U2573 but this includes other parts?

Thanks

You need a pair of internal circlip pliers.

Is that a Schumacher tool?

No you should be able to get them at Hafords or similar.
U1954 is the pro spec thrust race. Most likely cause of poor diff action is the thrust race or out of round diff balls U2459.
Also make sure the circlip is put back the right way round or it will pull out when you tighten up the diff.

The need for quality circlip pliers has been mentioned - I was lucky enough to "obtain" an RS set ::)

As Jason says a rough feeling diff is rarely down to the thrust race, so only remove the circlip as a last resort. Personally I clean and re-grease the balls and clean the diff plates first. If the plates are badly worn then I'd consder replacing them - this is pretty rare.

Even rarer would be replacing the diff balls - I run the original kit versions (not the trick ceramic Jason ;)) and have never had to replace them. And have never had to take the thrust race out in two years of Mission racing

Mark,
Never used ceramic ones in the Mission can't seem to get them in 2.5mm.
Kit tungsten carbide ones have been fine though.

I have now replaced the diffs with the RW versions and everything is free in the world again :D
