Advancing it will give more power and torque, but you'll suffer on run time, in a big way if you get it massively wrong.:'(

Be aware that the motors have adjustable timing, but that the speedos often have timing built into their software as well. A GM speedo will have 0 software timing, whereas a Nosram speedo has 30 degrees advance (or summit like that!)

Last year I found a motor timing setting that seemed to work well (copied Andy M, hehe!) and just left it after that.
