Folks,
As the title states we are having a work weekend to paint the rostrum, track and fix the fence over the whole weekend of the 5th & 6th of April. Can all members and anyone who can spare some time please come along so we can get all the work done prior to our first big meeting even if it's only for a couple of hours.
Remeber many hands make light work so don't leave it for someone else

Right things are moving along for this work weekend. We have hired a cherry picker and purchased the paint (£120 worth) it looks like a local company are going to shot blast the structure so if you can help please reply to this thread. You can always have a go in the cherry picker ;)
In addition to the rostrum we need to fix the fence and paint and finally the track edging.

Hi george, i will be at the work weekend and i requested last friday at dundee that as many people as possible try to make it up to give a hand.

Does anyone have a welding machine for Alloy?
We need to repair the bars on the track since they are cracking.

Welding machine for Alloy has been sorted so that's one less job! :D
Please see the other jobs below planned for the work weekend:
5th & 6th April 2008 Work Weekend Jobs & Equipment List
09:00 – 17:00 hrs Saturday
09:00 – 17:00 Sunday
Jobs
1) Clean and prepare the rostrum for painting (blasting).
• We will have to prepare the rostrum for painting using wire brushes and if possible shot blast using our compressor. I will check for blast material etc.
2) Repair side panels of rostrum.
3) Paint the rostrum undercoat (1 hour drying time).
4) Paint the rostrum top coat (1 hour drying time 24 hour cure).
5) Clean and prep out buildings prior to Painting.
6) Clean track concrete edging.
7) Paint track concrete edging and touch up red corner marks (if we have enough time).
8) Repair old fence using off cuts making sure we have no holes.
9) Spray paint old fence after repair.
10) Treat moss areas on track with copper sulfate solution to track surface using a sprayer at 1:4 dilution rate so we will have 25 litres total.
11) Clean out all areas.
12) Making concrete humps around bar sockets on the race track.
13) Sorting out the PA system from a speaker point of view.
14) Make new window rest for race control main window like 07GP but removable.
15) Make removable gates for both track entrances.
16) Extra electric socket under race control rated to 20 amp x 2 for GP etc.
17) Repair track bars which need welding (alloy) including extra bars on rostrum.
18) Paint the new black tar on the track to blend into the original colour and repair any new holes in the tar also.
19) Replace lock on old entrance gate
20) Remove grass overhanging concrete edging using strimmer.
21) Update event info sheet behind perspex on shed.
22) Make sign for top of road to Mineralwell Park (if time)
Equipment Required
1) Under coat and top coat paint (10 litres of both plus thinners).
2) Paint for race control and store. (grey)
3) Paint for track (white masonary paint 20 litres?).
4) Cherry picker for access to rostrum (£305 for weekend). ordered
5) Ladders and step ladders. 1 off in rostrum store
6) Wire and cutters for fence.
7) Green fence paint plus sprayer.
8) 20 pound hammer for driving in new posts.
9) Compressor plus attachments for blasting spraying etc.
10) Paint brushes.
11) Rollers for painting and trays.
12) Containers for painting.
13) Tiewraps for the rostrum.
14) Welding equipment.
15) Flat plat for repair of rostrum side nets (plus saw for cutting).
16) Pin for repair of hinge on main store door.
17) 2 new brushes and a pan plus a mop and bucket for cleaning track edges.
18) Track tar paint (grey / black)
19) Wood for repair of fence plus screws (pressure treated 2” x ½”)
20) Electric screw drivers for above etc.
21) Removable handle for race control door
22) Chain and cutters for locking up equipment.
23) New keys to be cut for the track.

Folks, Everything is go for this weekend and the forecast is good for Saturday!
Please come down and help out with the job list above even if just for a couple of hours. We will be there from 8am Saturday till 3pm Monday. Hot tea & coffee will be available allong with a bacon roll :D

Thanks a million to all who helped today and especially to Nic who spent most of the day up in the air on the cherry picker and Pauline for feeding me numerous sausage sarnies ;)

A big thank you to all the club members who came down over the weekend we could not have done this work without you!
We only have 3 jobs left to do on the list above so we can now enjoy the rest of the season:D

OhmAhead I would just like to point out that this thread was started in 2008!
We generally only do work at the track on sat and sun (weekends)
please don't send your son down on monday as he will be all alone!!
