Ok I understand about the new cells & the terms for the nationals for '08, but could someone explain in more detail whats happening in '09? Whats a "BRCA santctioned" event exactly?

Any meeting run by the BRCA that ISN'T a National, so for example, BRCA run regionals.

Hi

A sensible question - makes a nice change :D

The cell construction rules have changed for this year, the measurements are much stricter.

So as to not to hit competitors too hard the new rules apply to Nationals only for 2008.

So for 2008 at Nationals you have to use the 2008 products only.

At 'Regionals' (which are effectivly the other sanctioned events) you can run product off the 2008 list or the 2007 one.

A regional is a race series run by a BRCA section at a more local level - see 1/10 Off Road as an example.

Of course for club racing or other locally organised championships none of the lists apply at all - unless that club or group chooses to adopt them.

Hope this clarifies.

Do the events that count towards the BRCA Touring Car Regional Finals (ie the STCC, TORC series set) count as "Regionals" in this description?

[I know they would probably fall under the catagory of 'locally organised championships' but just wanted to check since they are counting towards BRCA-sanctioned finals]

Cheers
Oli

Olli your right, they do not. The TC section is using the results from selected series/meetings to build the points for the "regional" finals. As they are not organised or controlled by the BRCA they are not.

Does this mean that any old gits (including me) will have to have 2008 compliant cells to enter the 2008 veterans 1/10th offroad event , which i believe is a brca national and includes brc and juniors /vets sections ?

In the past i believe the Off rd End Of season finals have run to "regional variations" where appropiate, as their quallification is regional. I think this happened when brushless was allowed at regionals, but not nationals - although can't be 100% sure. I'm sure the off road committee will advise in due course.

Cool thanks for the info. My cells will probably need replacing anyway before I get to race in an event where they're not allowed.

Danny I think you will find this is exactly the intention of the new rulings :D
