Tamiya TT-01
As title asks, are any of these allowed to race at your club, I am new to all this, so please forgive me if it sounds like a stupid question :o. I am looking to buy my first car.

Thanks :)

You can certainly race a TT01 at our club, but I would not recommend it. Much better to hold on to your money and come along one Sunday and see what other people race. My advice would be to buy a second hand car whether from a club racer or from the well known internet auction site. Get some advice from club members on cars that are used at the club and have spares readily available. I'm assuming you have mastered the basics of driving your truck and are looking for the chance to race against other people. We are racing Sunday 6th Jan at Milton, racing starts about 10:30, so come along and watch and learn, everyone will be happy to talk to you and show you what they race with.

Ok thanks, just so I could do a bit of research into what to look for what would you recommend? maybe list a few models for me that the others race?

Thanks!

p.s i am not too bad driving, could be alot better though, but I have never raced where the sides are enclosed and i have never changed the set up (except the slipper clutch and suspension hardness? on my truck)

Hey!

Sorry, but i'm going to disagree with John. The TT-01 is a reasonable chassis...perfect for a beginer like yourself. In fact we have one of our seasoned drivers (Mark Bristow) running one, and seems to do fairly well with it.

Personally i'd never recommend buying second hand chassis, unless you really know what you're looking for. These cars, even when they're only getting run at club level take a lot of abuse in some hands and parts get worn out quick. I'd say your better off with a brand new, slightly less competitive chassis than a worn out (and not necessarily well setup) high end one. It'll be a better starting point to work from, and probably less hastle.

If you think your going to stick at it for a while (difficult to know until you get into it), you probably should try and stretch your budget as far as itlll go, and youll save money in the long run.

See you on the 6th.

Tom

Thanks! Just wondering what the difference id between the normal version and the drift spec version as the drift spec is £20 more, and all i can see is a bit of tuning to the suspension and drift tyres.

They can be found on the models in motion website, under remote control -> tamiya -> 1/10 electronic (built)

Called:
Tamiya Nismo Coppermix Silvia Drift Spec (RTR)
and
Tamiya XB Nismo Coppermix Silvia (TT01)
