I am a little confused about what options come in the box. Do you get both the direct drive and the 2 belt version in the box when you buy the kit.
Also I see listed a mid mounted motor option. Is this a 3rd option. if so does anyone recommend it ?

Andrew,
there are now 2 boxed kits:
00160 - Master Edition
00161 - Mid Motor Edition
Master kit contains all the components to have either rear motor direct drive or rear motor 2 belt drive, transmissions.
The Mid-Motor kit is a new kit, previously the mid-motor was only available as a conversion kit (for the Master Edition), but they have now relased a specific mid-motor kit. This is a single transmission car only, with a new design main chassis lower and top deck and motor mount, for the mid-motor location.
Other than the 2 motor location choices, all the rest of the kit contents are identical. Alloy threaded shocks, alloy hubs, alloy steering arms, alloy motor mounts, carbon shock towers, MIP CVD driveshafts, etc, etc...... the UK site has the manual and a kit description online.
<EDIT>
The mid-motor conversion kit is still available for the Master Edition, using this combination will provide for 3 transmission layouts.

I have been through all 3 of the chassis types and if I were going to buy one new knowing what I know now I would buy the mid motor version. It just seems to be the best balanced most neutral of the 3.
Not that the others were bad just this one seems to inspire much more confidence.

After looking at two Assassins at the weekend (Andy Sawyer's and Andy Griffith's), Andy Griffiths ran the mid-motor kit and Andy Sawyer used the rear motor - but still with the twin belt setup.
Maybe for the outdoor season, and funds permitting, I might get the mid-motor setup. I am happy with the rear motor kit at the moment, it reacts instantly and is well balanced.
One reassuring thing about looking at two team cars was noticing that they were pretty much, out of the box! One car had a front diff and different caster blocks, but that was it. So when someone tells you that you don't need any option parts for one, they aren't lying!

Glad to hear you agree Lliam, I have been saying this for ages!
The only 2 options that anyone needs to consider are the 4deg castor carriers and a front ball diff. Which you run just depends on whether you are running on carpet or tarmac.
Considering how light the car is out of the box I think the nice little Corally weights are a definate worthwhile purchase ;D ;D
Plus they look very nice when fitted (OK i'm easily pleased)
