Hi I'm halfway through building my Mission, and I noticed the front diff can move around in it's housing (I've just put the top deck on). Is this normal? I took it apart and compared to the manual but could not make out what the problem was? The rear diff. by comparison barely moves so I'm assuming I've done something wrong? Anyone care to point out to an idiot what he's forgotten?

I have a similar problem - the diff moves from sode to side? My belt also has a very slight twist in it and I am blaming this on the diff movement. It does not seem to cause any problems but I would like to get the car 'perfect'.
I was thinking of getting the alloy diff holders?

Same problem here, I don't think it matters.
A possible cure would be to find some thin rings that fit on to the diff outdrives to push the ball bearing right up to the lip on the lower mount for the diff. That would remove any play in it.
both my diffs have play, i think that it is just cos the drive shafts don't push firmly against them, because when i move them the piece that sticks out and holds the drive shaft moves. ??? i dont know whether this is the same for u.

You can shim the diffs out, but personally i wouldn't bother. I would rather have a little side ways movement than have them binding.

yeh agree matt,
will allow the diff to find its natural position.
