OK peeps, I need some REAL guidance here, been trying to set the rear ride height, without the use of the droops adjusters but I just CAN'T seem to be able to manage it.

If I use the bottom set of holes on the shock tower, the back end rests about 11mm off the deck, WITH cells and gear in, no spacing on the rear springs. If I use to top set of holes, the chassis sits on the deck.

Now, I don't want to preload the springs using the droop screws to get the ride height right...

Guidance please ANYONE in RC Lab land!!!

What shocks do you have Steve? The kit ones or the threaded versions?

If you have the threaded set then you might have the long shock ends fitted. You should be using the lower holes on the rear tower and the upper holes on the front if you still have the kit towers on there.

Kit towers on the car, with the non-threaded shocks, I had the small ball joints on there and I have tried the longer ones, to no avail.

This has got me really stumped at the moment.

Are the spring cups actually sliding over the rod ends, or are they just sat on top? I built one a couple of weeks ago that needed a good shove to get the spring cups on properly, but then it worked fine with the lower holes on the tower, we got the car down to 5mm ride height with no problems.

OK, I had another play today, and tried trimming down in length the ball joints that cam with the springs to a shorter length (same as what comes with the shocks) and finally got the ride height down to a decent amount (still can't get the shocks down to what the manual states though).

So, I am going to trim down the front ball joint so the spring cup will sit over the ball joint, not on top of it.

As a starter, using a droop guage, what should I set the droop to, front and rear??

What have you changed on the shocks since you first run it? I note from some of your other posts that the car handled really well. Did you have the ride height problem then?

Again like James said. Use the short rose joints on the end of the shocks and MAKE sure the spring cups are FULLY pushed over it.

I have a 7.7 club and have had no issue with ride height front or rear. What are you shock lengths and what mount positions are you using?

OK, what I found out was this, the rose joints that cam in the pack of the shocks, these seemed to be cut down versions of those used on the rest of the car. The rose joints that came with the spring kit were narrower, but too long.

The car did handle well, but tail slide just before the mid point on a hairpin, due to the fact that I had to set the ride height on the droop adjusters, which overloaded the outside rear wheel.

After a bit of fettling, I have managed to get the car to setlle below ride height with no spacers, which mean now I can adjust the height properly, still have suspension droop, and stop the tail slide.

But, like I have asked, I got a droop gauge (Yokomo) and would like to know what I should set it too, at a guess, I should be looking at less droop on the front to the rear.

Set your droop on the gauge so that the front are two numbers higher than the rear, but some times it is around the other way. Not sure what numbers you would use as I still do not understand you ride height issue.

What spring kit did you get? If it was the shorter springs then that could explain why you had longer rose joints. If you then used the longer springs that would in turn increase your ride height.

What shock mounting positions are you using?

Hope this helps a bit.

The ride height issue has been sorted, it was the ball joints supplied in the Shock Absorber bag wouldn't let the spring base slide over it, it just sat on the top, so the back end sat up in the air. Like I say, ride height is sorted now, just got to set the car back up.
