Cartman was kind enough to recommend abook called "XXX Main Chassis Setup Guide". Unfortunately, the book is harder to get than Kylie's phone number, so could anybody suggest where I might be able to get it from. Bear in mind that I live in Leicester and my local model shops have been little help.

Thanks

Funnily enough Jon Guest at Snetterton Model Shop (01953 887878) was trying to sell me this very book

I didn't buy it but i think i will do because i am very much of the mindset that i would like to turn up, place the car down on the track, and not constantly fiddle with camber, castor, etc....i think this book may help me establish a 'benchmark' set-up, then i just throw some tyres on and get on with racing....

I just know that last remark will attract a boatload of comments from the 'fiddle with it constantly' brigade....

Joe K,

I am of the same mind as you BUT, you will find that as you use the book more you will end up 'tinkering' more. I am the worlds worst at setting up my car, or I thought I was..........

Last race meeting before I went I sat down with the book and spent some time going through my performances with my car. I was having cornering problems, and as a novice I naturally assumed it was all down to me. Well most of it is I'm sure, but i was able to help myself a bit too.

The book allows you to set up your car before the day, and on the first heat i noticed an immediate difference, BUT, and this is the but, since I niticed a difference I then changed 1 thing for the next heat, again a little easier to handle, and seemingly more speed. During the day I was making constant adjustments, based on the previous run.

So you see once you get the book you will still be a member of the 'tinker brigade' but at least you'll be able to do it with a good reason.
