Hi,
Can you help me? when i press the throttle on my rc car the motor does not turn, though if i hold down the throttle and turn the spur gear it starts up. but if i stop the motor then it wont start again until i have turned the spur gear to starte it up, what can i do to make it work properly?

I have tried a different motor and that is fine, so it is definately a motor problem. It had just had the comm skimmed and the brushes and springs changed. I have tried a different endbell, armature, springs and brushes but to no avail, it still doesn't work, please help me

Thank you

Jack Varty

Sounds like Sticking brush which could be brushes or weak springs.

There is also another possibility. Has it got very very hot recently. Could be that the solder has come off of one of the armature comm tags. If this is the case then i'm afraid the armature is scrap.

well i have tried two different armatures and neither of them work, so i dont think its an un-soldered tag. any other suggestions please, i really need this to work before wednesday night???

sticking brushes then. Just try pulling them both out of the hoods, and let the springs pull them back onto the comm.

if it is sticky brushes then how comes when i turn the spur gear it suddenly springs to life? and then when the car stops moving you have to turn the spru gear again to get it to work?

Thats exactly what would happen if you had a sticky brush!

Sounds to me like a dead stack on the arm - bin job. The occurrence of the symptoms is too regular for a sticking brush.

When the motor runs, Jack, does it run at full speed, or does it sound like it's only firing on three cylinders? If the latter, it's a dead stack, and you are dead unlucky.

Hope it's a sticky brush!!

yes, if it was a dead stack, then if wouldn't start from any old place as well, it would work!, but it wouldnt start >:(, also it wouldn't be very smooth, but i dont think that really matters in a rc car.
