The original thread for this meeting seems to have dropped of the bottom of the list, so heres a new and up to date one.
Wycombe Radio car Club (WRCC) will be holding an open meeting on Sunday 2nd December 2007. The meeting will cater for the following classes;
Mardave Hot-Rods (run to BRCA rules)
Mardave Super Seven’s (Run to BRCA rules except for body shell and main chassis mods). This is the feature class and will be run to Reedy Race Format.
1/18th Off Road Stock (BRCA rules)
1/18th Off Road Modified (BRCA rules)
Sportwerks Recoils
The racing will take place at our permanent venue in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, on our 8m x 14m primafelt GT carpet track area. The Mardave classes will be run on a flat circuit layout, and movable jumps will be put in place for the 18th Off Road guys.
The format will be 4 qualifying rounds and a final for each driver, with qualifying based on FTQ. The only exception will be for the Mardave Super Seven’s class, which will be run to Reedy Race Format, with each drivers best 3 results from 5 races counting towards the overall standings.
We have a 1.5m tall drivers rostrum, permanent pitting and seating for around 60 drivers (more if everyone squeezes up a bit!), and there is also mains power on every pit bench. We also have toilets, and catering services should be in attendance for anyone who requires cholesterol intake during the day.
Mardave spares will be available from the club shop(s), but unfortunately no 18th scale spares will be available (unless people want to bring stuff with them to sell, which they are welcome to do).
There will be a raffle, and proceeds will be donated to 'Happy Days Childrens Charity' (http://www.happydayscharity.org/about.html)
Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 drivers in each A final, the winner of each other final and the top junior driver (16 or under on 1/1/07).
Entries can be taken via post, and we will also have an online booking facility. Payment is required up front to confirm your place, and entries are done on a first come, first served basis. There will be 10 heats, and this again will be filled on a first come first served basis by class (so we could have an even spread across classes, or 7 heats of modified 18th and 1 of each other class!
To book in online go to www.centralbooking.co.uk
Follow the on-screen link to 'Wycombe Open Meeting'. You need to register first, but it only takes 5 minutes.

Do you guys fancy running a Recoil Race there as well?
It could be run after the Mardaves!
A few from our club are interested in popping along if you do.

Entries are now open for Sportwerks recoils.
Out of interest, have people been running them to any specific rules? Is it a free for all, or has it got to be 'out of the box'? Just wondering for scrutineering purposes...

Leighton buzzard club has the highest number of recoils running - between 6 and 10

Pre-payment is required to confirm your place (we need to get an idea of numbers in advance so that trophies can be ordered etc...). However, if you cancel your entry at least 1 week in advance you get a full refund.
Why dont you book in for recoil, and then book in for 18th nearer the time if you decide to run it?

I am not aware that the recoil heat is serious, thought it was just to demonstrate them - as such, I do not have a problem with a brushless recoil entering, would be good to see how it fairs
Make sure you bring it with charged batteries ;)

I agree. At this stage its a run what you like class. Entries arent going to be high, and I'd rather have a few rather than none at all! They could be a good demo, and if popular there could be an option to run them at the club on tuesday evenings...

I have just spoken to Chris Kerswell (he wrote the booking in program). He has said that the system was designed for BRCA national meetings where drivers only race one class. Therefore you'll have to register another account in order to book in for a second class. Sorry for the hassle; you'll be able to blame Chris at the meeting because he'll be racing. :D

If anybody else is having this problem send me an email with your details and I will enter you manually (once kerswell modifies the software to allow me to do it!)

Hi everyone,
I will be at the venue from about 7:30am to get things sorted, so you can arrive any time after that really. It'll be open practice from then until about 9:45 (practice will be followed by drivers briefing), so your arrival time will depend on whether you want much practice or not. It is likely I will organise 15 minute slots for on/off road cars or something. Please use the peg board to the left of the drivers rostrum steps.
I'm aiming to be racing by 10:30 at the very latest, as it'll be about an hour per round. We will probably have 7 heats, and we have 4 qualifying rounds and a final to get through as well as the raffle etc...
Keep an eye on this thread over the coming days, as any updates regarding times etc... will be posted on here. I will email everyone if there are any major changes.
There will be a burger van on-site serving food, drinks etc..., so please try and support them if you can. They will want to setup in the car park at the bottom of the ramp, so if you arrive before they do please try and leave room for them to setup. Parking along each side is probably the best option (you'll see what I mean when you get there!)
We should have some decent raffle prizes on offer too. these have been kindly donated by Mirage Racing, Mardave, Will's spares shop and James Harrington's spares shop. There should be something for everyone (18th and mardave), so please try and support the raffle. Proceeds go to charity remember!
Not forgetting trophies either!:D
See you Sunday,
Mark.

After getting horribly lost on the way to Wycombe (and being an hour early..the RAC routeplanner lied to me!) I managed to find the Wycombe WRCC club a little before Mark 'Nobby' Stiles turned up to let us all in.
The club ran free practise until the Race Brief at 10am, split between offroad for the 3 heats of offroad micros (2 x Pro-Stock and 1 x Modified), 1 heat of Sportwerks Recoils and the 2 heats of Mardave Hot-Rods.
The Wycombe club run a permanent venue, utilising a 18m x 8m track for a variety of classes of RC during the week and would see the track obstacles removed before the 'onroad' heats and finals.
Hot Bodies/Mirage team driver Mark (Stiles) dominated Pro-Stock throughout the day, finishing off after Heat 4 with 24laps with Team Corally's 19T superstar Chris Kerswell chasing his down with his Losi Mini-T.
Mark Dicks running the FTX Blaze put in a sterling drive throughout the day to place him in the A final aswell, eventually finishing 2nd in the Pro-Stock A Final behind Mark who took the Pro-Stock A Final win with his Xray M18T.
Myself and Stu Harlow spent all 4 rounds of qualifying battling for the overall Modified TQ place which fell to me by seconds in Round 2. Carl Venter and local racer Colin (cant remember Colin's surname sorry!) spent all day tripping over each others toes as Carl placed 3rd on the grid for the final with Colin and Duncan Greer taking the final 2 places.
I won the final, registering 25laps (:p @ Nobby) with Stu romping home in second. Carl and Colin spent the entire 5 minutes dicing with each other but eventually (I think??) Colin took the final podium position.
A huge thank you has to goto Mark and the rest of the Wycombe team. Not only did they make a really noticable effort in preparing a track that was challenging and fun to drive (they built a great wallride and corner tabletop) but they also made the day thoroughly enjoyable, from the runnig race commentry from Mark (no pressure eh!) to the raffle that was held after qualifying for a local childrens charity.
Ill write a more detailed report once I get more pics and the race results :)
Thanks go to Carl Venter for the pics too :)
