Anyone living down south who wants to run brushless (minimum wind 10.5) and/or LiPo your wishes have been answered :)

At Aldershot we are introducing a "Super Touring" class because a number of drivers want a bit more speed than stock but don't want to go to full blown 5 cell modified.

It's only club racing so we are going to have no arguments about equivalency or the ins and outs of different speedo software. Scrutineering will be pretty laid back, the only real issue will be weight because of LiPo. We will run a system that any competitor can ask to see the weight of another competitors car after a qualifying heat or a final. A set of scales will be provided trackside.

There are a list of BL motors to choose from and you can keep a 19T brushed sitting in your toolbox ready for the damp days.

Interested? Here are the rules...

Hi, I'm looking at buying a brushless system but wanted to know why they can't be used in the wet? I've seen this on a few posts but can't find an answer by searching.

Is it just that people don't want to blow up a £200+ ESC and Speedo or somthing to do with drive?

brushless and water are highly incompatible :)

It is my understanding that the main problem is ingress of water into the sensor circuitry which results in the speedo being unable to determine the position of the rotor.

If somebody knows this to be wrong, please correct me.

You might want to try posting your question on the clubs section - WLRC. These guys have been running BL throughout the summer (yes... the wet one) and will probably have first hand experience of the problems that water brings to BL racing.
