Just wanted to say that 4 cell worked very well yesterday. A big thank you to the guy that lent me the novak 4.5, was much better than my 5.5. A 3.5 would have been even better, the setup would be prime for a 2.5  .

I think the reduction in weight and power made for a more forgiving car with less tyre wear. I'd recommend people go 4 cell, it could be a gentlemans agreement.

The problem I had was that I couldnt gear it low enough. Ended on a 120 spur (biggest I could get) with a 16 pinion (smallest I had). With 6 cells and a 4.5 it still felt slow, which to me was a surprise. I was expecting it to be uncontrollable. What did people used to gear a 6 cell 10 turn on?

My car was great - thanks JEV for the tyres :D :D :D

My only problem was I made the fatal mistake of letting someone else have a go, and as I re-centred the servo for his radio, my kimborough servo saver spring pinged out:'( :'( After that my servo was unable to centre.

I e-mailed dave spashett, and he informed me that he use to use Magenta fronts, with Silver star rears for outdoors, and greys for indoors. he used LRP blue additive, with tweak on top.

As to the tyre issue, I have enquired with WIM at AMC and he informs me that he has some pro 10 wheels and tyres in stock. rc4less also sell tyres etc.

as to ratio, I was 40mm a rev - i think that came down as the tyres wore down, but I wasn't too bothered.

How much faster do you want to go MArk:eek:

I've spoken to Dave Saul via Malcolm 'slim' Hall, and he still has some pro 10 cars, and may also join in the fun.

In addition to this AMC have a few Corally CCT cars left for sale, so anyone can join in the fun:D

What size tyres?

Guessing at 65mm this puts your gear ratio at 27mm/rev??????

To answer your question a 10 turn would have been 40mm.

If you used your 4.5 or 5.5 I would have thought they should have been up 35-40 but who knows your the first to try it:cool:

Did you start higher and did it just bog down?

I was on 34.5mm with 4 cells + novak 4.5, I think I could have geared lower though.

Remember I was running 6 cell Mark; not 4 cells as in 12th scale, so gear ratios will be different. I started with what I had in my box; 100/18 with 65mm tyres, which is about 37mm/rev. With this the car never picked up at all; it felt like the cells were flat right from the start. With 120/16, it didnt pick up until the end of the main straight, and it wasnt really revving at all. Rear tyres were at 60mm by the end of the day, which equates to 25mm/rev.

The car didnt feel like it was accelerating at all; it had no 'sparkle' to it like I was expecting. Maybe I was massively under geared in the end? I'm unsure of this though, because as I said it didnt sound like it was revving at all on the straight.

Mark having watched the videos there must have been something wrong with your car, it was not acclerating at all!
The grip looked O.K though.

Seems 4 cell might be the way to go. When I get my car I might try taking the lightness theory to extremes and try running with 1 single lipo cell (3.7v) and a small Lipo reciever pack. The total weight for this would be 170g, saving around another 110g on a normal 4 cell pack. Im not totally sure if this would be possible but if it didnt explode and kill me in theory it would fly round corners :D

I agree. It felt pretty slow. Bear in mind there are two white cars that look almost identical though, Mark. Grip was ok, but I was running purples all round as thats all I had.

The second final was the fastest, and thats when the car was best, but still far from good.
