FOR THOSE WHO HAVE FOLLOWED THE THREAD, ALONG WITH THE RELATED 1/12 THREAD ABOUT PERCEIVED VALUE.
I AM PROPOSING THAT ALL THOSE INTERESTED IN A REVIVAL OF PRO 10 FOR AT LEAST A 1 OFF THAT THEY GET THERE NAMES AND DETAILS DOWN ON THIS THREAD.
I AM PROPOSING THE SEPTEMBER 9, WLRC SUMMER SERIES DATE.
PROVIDED NUMBERS COME FORWARD I THINK STEVE CANN WILL RUN AT LEAST A HEAT.
GIVEN THAT THIS IS A 'REVIVAL' I PROPOSE THAT WE AGREE TO A FAIRLY ROUGH SET OF RULES IE:
1. CARS HAVE A SOLID REAR AXLE
2. THEY ARE PAN CARS
3. ANY MOTOR
4. ANY BATTERIES (THOUGH i PREFER THE IDEA OF 4 CELLS)
5. NON SMELLY TYRE ADDITIVES
6. CARS ARE 1/10
This should allow pro 10 and F1 cars to compete.
BTW I've got an associated L3 with 4 cell 4200's and a 4.5 brushless - the cars gonna be way faster than my ability:D :D :D ;)
SO COME ON GUYS ARE YOU WITH ME??????:)
I was just about to strip my Tamiya F103GT (13.5 LiPo) of its electrics as the class was going nowhere at Aldershot, but now I may have to rethink the idea, would still need to get a new shell.
(am looking to push start a 10.5/13.5 BL Touring class at Aldershot)
I'm intrested in taking part. I just need some tyres to get my trinity switchblade up and running.
Can you please email me if it is going ahead - jevon@btinternet.com
Cheers

I've got hold of an old lynx pro-10 car, but to be honest it's a right heap! If I'm going to do this I want to do it properly, so I'm currently looking for an associated RC10L2, which was the last 235mm pro-10 car made by Associated. It's the same basic design as my 12L4 12th scale car, so I might even have some idea of how to set the thing up if I can get one!
Will keep you posted.

I think my car is the L2 - as it is wide!
Mark Barford sold it to me with a spare chassis - the rear pod is wide, but there are a few places you can get rear pods - if you have any problems, I can give you a long term loan of the chassis - if that means you can get the other parts together.
the front end is just an associated dynamic strut!
I bet you PDW has a few old ones that he may sell, as would the other old timers like jewitt and keith robertson;) :D :D

I probably wont be able to sort out a car in time but I am to join you all soon afterwards. Probably going to try and get the Corally car but really Id happily run the Assocaited car, its just a matter of figuring out a reliable supplier for the parts and tyres. Cant wait to see this though, it'll be awesome!

I think this should do the trick
http://www.teamspeedmerchant.com/cars/speedspec/speedspec.html
just use 4 cells and brushless!
Yokomo do a 1/10 Lola Shell
also try www.stormerhobbies.com for a proper pro 10 shell
HTH:D :D :D
Wish I could get some gear sorted for this to come race 10th again. Im scouring Ebay guys !
Looks like I may just have to get one of those Active Hobby Porsche 956 shells for my little Tamiya.
It's a shame I cannot find anywhere to purchase those Calandra Racing 35mm Rear Touring foams without paying through the roof.
I just hope that the 30mm rears will be enough.

For this meeting is now open thru' the club web-site... To enter this class please select the Formula One option... If you choose to race in one of the Touring Car classes as well then you may race in the Pro10/F1 class for nowt... I'm looking for at least six 'firm' entries to run this class... If enough interest I might even rustle up some awards for the top three overall...

Darn and blast it....just got a Pro10 ready for a meeting like this and I'll be out of the country :'(
Mind you it is two weeks in Canada
So young Mr Stiles, if you want a slightly older RC10L to run we need to talk ;)
Nice dynamic front end. Strongly suspect the shell is an early Gav Clinch, and I have a theory on who the "Mick" might have been too. Now you're interested :p

Bring it with you to Barham this weekend. I am very interested.:D
I have sourced somewhere to get new shells and tyres (so I can run my famous colours.;) ), so I just need a car.

well chaps
I have booked in, just make sure you all hide behind the railings when i drive:eek:
I wonder if Mark Barford has had a look at this thread?????
He's the kind dude who sold me the pro 10 car, and he tells me he has one waiting to be taken out of retirement and into service - hence the sale to me.
to Mark Burgess - if there is a good enough turnout, and everyone enjoys themselves, maybe there can be another meeting:D
Hope the entries swell - remember the class will include:
Pro 10's
Formula One cars - this includes the tamiya's and corally's

Right, I have a bid in on an L2, lets see if I can get it
Mark Stiles

Mr Burgess has kindly lent me his RC10L. Its like a 10L1.5, as it has the dynamic strut front end on it (as seen on the L2). All I need now are some useable tyres and a shell!
Ho hum, the bid went past what I was willing to pay, guess im not coming pro-10 now :(

There are a couple more "waiting in the wings" so these need to add their names to entry list plus any other genuine interested persons...
Don't let this opportunity slip by... Free entry if you've entered a TC class plus also a chance of a 'pot'...

Someone get a word to Chaz Chadwick! He is mad for pro10 and I believe he has a working car, well at a least he did a few months ago, cos he was doing a few practise laps with one in between rounds at WL. I wish I could join in the fun! I hope to sort something out in the next couple of months.

Looks like we're good to go, as Rob Baxter has entered, making it 6 of us. So what cars is everyone running and with what?
I have an Associated RC10L 235mm pro-10 car, with the later introduced dynamic strut front end. (so its more like an L1.5).
I've got a Nissan NTP90 shell (I think thats what it is), and will be running 6 cells with a brushless motor (the 4* bonded one I had for 12th scale last year if I can find it). I have a limited selection of tyres; mostly Jaco greens, which will be crap. Got a set of purples, but this compound is likely to be too hard for the rear. Should be ok on the front though. Pinks would be a better option for the rear, but I dont have any unfortunately. Also got corally silver stars. The fronts are in good nick, but the rears are pretty chewed. I also had a rummage around and found an old tin of TQ orange additive which I'm gonna bring along and try out.
It's gonna be insanely quick, overpowered, and I'll probably run out of grip after about 2 minutes! Should be fun tho!

EXCELLENT NEWS
I'M REALLY EXCITED:D :D :D
Well Mark - I assume you'll be lapping me and the rest of the field within 2 laps:eek: 6 cells and brushless - that's with a man who had the better of Chris Grainger in the last leg of the KO (or were you beaten on the line?)
I have what I believe to be the last of the wide pro 10 cars - the l2 with a dynamic strut front end.
the tyres I have are associated greens all round - I have it on the authority of Mark Barford that they are a good combo expecially with corally 'jack the gripper'
In addition to this I'm running 4 cell brushless 4.5 - that's plenty fast enough for me - shame it's got me driving it
BTW the body I gave over to you mark was a Nissan P35.;)
MattW
04-09-2007, 10:16 PM
Stiles, you're gonna be somewhat dangerous with that sort of combo - i'd want danger money to marshall!!!! Should be awesome fun to drive though.

No its not.:p The P35 has a pointed cockpit and is more of a wedge shape. Seen one on t'internet and its different to what I have. The one I've got is almost exactly the same shape as the NTP90 12th scale shell.

Hehe cool lol. Yes Mark I expect multiple insurance claims to be made even with you driving, that thing must be like a 1/8th IC on the straight!
I'll be running my trinity switchblade I did 2 years of nationals with, slightly modified. With novak brushless but I do not have exact spec on winds and batteries yet .
If anyone is desperate for tyres I'm sure I could coble something together.
Can we set aside a pit area just for pro10 drivers?

Seperate pits... Well racers tend to have their favourite spot but suggest, perhaps, Protenners and F1's gather to north of rostrum...

sad thing is I've done my car in P35 livery - what a twit :o
By the way Steve - not having a compass - what is the north of the track? - is that facing the rostrum?

Is the area where committee & helpers pit... (To the right of rostrum when facing track)... So congregate behind these or adjacent to right (further north) of this 'invaluable' group...

Hi Steve, I'm affraid not :(. They're too busy with the recent release of the new pt's. They would have loved to take part though. But alas, my pester power failed :D .
Hopefully I can get there early enough to guarantee a spot next to race control, will be handy for helping each other out :). I'll bring the gazeebo, enough for 3 or 4 in it. First come first served ;).

Hi Mark, car looks good, you may want to add a lexan gurney flap to the rear of the body shell, you can add an extra inch of kick up to the rear which will help coming out of corners. Wish I could be there tomorrow but time will just not allow it to happen. I have got my TRC Pro 10 (1989 vintage!) together and I will aim to give it a run round Colchester the next time I am there.
BTW Colchester have been running a heat of 1/12th outdoors and I could not believe how well the cars were going, the track is flat enough and grippy enough to make a proper outdoor 1/12th meeting a possibility, maybe for next Summer?
Have fun tomorrow and then tell us all about on Racechat.

Some pics of my beast prior to destruction on Sunday;
Its probably too late to mention but I would loose the solid roll mast before it does somebody some damage, Even YEARS ago the Pro 10 cars were so quick in a straight line , The 98 worlds was 6 cells and 10 turn motors and when they left the track the acceleration was unreal. With the brushless it will be OH MY GOD. Hope you all have fun. If the revival continues I believe I have the car that I ran at the 98 worlds (10L?) still at Phills models I will dig it out sometime.

Hopefully time can be found to do it all again sometime... Just need those six 'confirmed' entries to show up and a heat (or two) will be run for you...

I have made a few enquiries, and there are a few people out there that have indicated an interest in participating. Not only that, but there were a few people who came over and started reminiscing about the cars they had in their lofts, which they said they would happily pull out again:D :D
I made the effort of taking down some names and numbers, and hopefully we can get a larger entry next time, if that is the case I may try and persuade the entrants to a mini series - format TBC - that simply slots into a few club meetings such as say June at colchester, july at Aldershot, and August at WLRC.
I just hope peoples interests are piqued, and that more people will come out of the woodwork to play BTW most shops still have pro 10 tyres etc, and the likes of GRP, BSR, JACO, rc4less, still make the tyres and wheels! I've found a great source;) :D ;)

I got 1!
Where does one get the shells from and tyres?
Were there any of the narrow (190mm) RC10L3s running at WLRC or was it all full width pro-10 cars (235mm)?
If there was a mixture, how did they compare?
I could not make last Sunday but I have an old RC10L3 which I keep meaning to dust off and stick some radio gear in. If the full width cars were significantly quicker I may be able to find most of the bits of a full width trinity somewhere.

There was one narrow car there, not sure what it was but it was going really well though, he was leading some of the heats IIRC.
PS. Actually, now Ive watched the footage back I think Mikes car was also the narrow bodied type.
