What range of pinions do you use on your xxx-s? indoors and outdoors
(using the std 90 spur gear)

Hello Chris,
I would say you will need from 18t to 32t covering both indoor and outdoor.
I use 128t 64dp spur gear and have used anything from 26t to 43t piniongs.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Eirik

Happy New Year mr Holden
I have been in "your world" before actually, but not to often though, LOL!
I hope you have not made that Mazda body yet, we can not use it at the DHI Race after all...
I will leave tomorrow for the race and I think David will go together with Oscar from Switzerland.
It's going to be a He.. of a race I think!
Make sure you check the Orion site during the weekend, they will have live reports I think...

Stupid question but , when i got my XXXS G (second hand) there was a spare yellow spur gear and it has 128 teeth on it (but much smaller than the normal 88 tooth spur). Does anyone know what this is and what pinion sizes would i use?

that sounds like it is 64dp. its basically a different gear pitch
Eirik posted what pinions to use with those a few posts back

With 48dp I run 88/23 7:1 ratio with a stock motor and it seems about perfect. This is on a small indoor track but when I race on the big track I run 26 and it seems to go ok but not as good as on the small track. I was thinking of going to 64dp but have heard if you get your meshing slightly wrong you wreck your spur and pinion. Is this the case?
