Hi
After having stripped a head of a screw that goes into the motor mount, i've decided to change all the philips head screws to torx. I've done a list from going through the manual but am not sure where to get them from. I dont want to goto RS (am I allowed to mention them?) as they'll only have packs of 100 etc..
Heres what I need
No.4 1/2" CSK x 40
No.4 3/8" CSK x 20
No.4 5/8" CSK x 5
M3x8 CSK x 6
M3x8 Button Head x 6
No.4 3/8" Pan Head x 2
No.4 1/2" Pan Head x 4
M3x12 CSK x 2
Now wouldnt it be nice if someone sold a screw pack that had all those in them?, but theres hoping lol.
Any Ideas
Cheers
Andy
p.s what does the No.4 mean? as I can find no other screws that are no.4, are these M3,M4???
schumacher do a set dont they !
doesnt the r21 come with the torx screws ?

Ideally I wanted torx though, not hex as they are in that pack.
Cheers for the info though
The stainless steel hex should be adequate as long as you use a good quality driver.
BTW what is "torx"

if you are after a longterm replacement for the screws. TIR do a titainium screw set. they are 2mm and 2.5mm alan screws and a set will complete the car. they retail at 49.99 (think) and are worth the money.
try the website or your local modelshop!

I replaced all the screws on my car with allen head ones. From memory i used sometihng like 50 (might have been a couple more) M3x8mm screws. Most of the screws in the car kits are much longer than they need to be IMHO. Hence if you can get a box of 100 at a reasonable price i would get them and have some spares.

The TiR set is excellent and I have it fitted to my Mission (or more correctly to both of them ::)), so if you're after strength and weight savings go for them. Makes maintenance a breeze too...
Keith and Matt have explained the Schumacher Torx part numbers, and they also seem to make maintenance easier. Where I would disagree with Matt is using 8mm screws all round - I stick to 10mm at least for the main gearbox, suspension blocks and body mount screws for extra security. Call it personal perferrence ;)
Cheers
Mark
PS - for those that haven't followed the link Torx is a six way star pattern on the top of the screw requiring a different screw driver (KRob has supplied p/n!). Driver fits a lot more securely in six slots than the four of the kit screws.
