OK, this isn't as simple as it appears by the title, but, I was wondering if any of you computer types out there has managed to make a setup form, so it can automatically put data into an Access Database.
Reason I ask, I just acquired a PDA, and, rather than having scraps of paper, I wanted to store the data electronically.
Any ideas??
Mike, you any good at that, might be a good one for the Lab Drivers??

Hi,
I have just got a new PDA as well and you have just given me something to do over the next few days! LOL If I succeed in making a access setup sheet I will upload it for download and post the URL here ok.
See you in a few days!

Nice one, the way I was intending to do it was to scan in the original setup sheet from the manual, and then overlay the relevant input areas. Just hope it works on the Palm OS, and not just the Microsoft one.
Cheers fella.

Well, I have taken a look at my options and as a time saver I am attempting to make an Excel document with drop down menu's and text input boxes. It may look a bit <edit>poor<edit> but at least you can put data in and change the appearance yourselves! ;)
I will get the link uploaded as soon as I have done it. You will have to refer to the original RCLab setup sheet for the correct numerical positioning of things like suspension arms and shocks...
I will put some instructions on the doc. and hopefully get some diagrams made up to help with identifying the correct positions.
This is just my first attempt so if it doesn't work then lets hope someone else can do better! LOL
Regards,
Richard Bland (RCLab Feind)

hi guys,
this sounds interesting, have a laptop and a PDA, but with palm do you need documents to go to view excel and any other MS documents?
if not i will have to use my laptop, then realised i dont have excel, only MS works spreadsheet, and as far as i can see you cannot do drop down lists. any ideas?

You can create drop downs in excel using the 'validation' tool and giving it a 'list' to choose from. it's simple yet effective.
Give me another half an hour to write instructions and then i'll upload it and post a link. see if it works! lol
PS THIS IS A BIT OF FUN NOTHING SERIOUS SO DONT EXPECT IT TO BE ANY GOOD! lol

The problem with using excel, you GOT to have excel on the PDA to view it, whereas with the database, I am sure you could run up a quick user form in VBa to run on the Palm OS and the Microsoft version.
The other thing about using a spreadsheet is that it is VERY awkard to add things to it in the future, and can be quite bulky when you consider the amount of space available on your average PDA.
Just a thought...

Very good point, but it is almost 10pm and it's taken me an hour so I will post the link and be done with it!! LOL ;D
Like I said this was a bit of fun and if it works it works, if not then it don't bother me. Plus I don't think anyone in there right mind would use this one. I just got the ball rolling iwth the idea of having a digital set-up sheets.
Cheers,
Richard
