well i'm gonna stick with the motor in the front because i'll want more wait on the front for better steering!
where does it come standard i am not to good with tamiya's
no matter where it comes you should give it a go in both positions !

There had been different versions of the TA 03 some with the motor on rear and some on front. The front is the one that worked better though.

well whatever one i've got i can swap the two ends around so i can have the motor near the back. not sure which is best though...
like fabien says the front. it makes sense anyway

Actually, when Tamiya racing was the biggest class at our club, we all converted our TA03's to the rear motor setup. It was much more consistent and easier to drive! (and you never used to strip gears when you bump the barrier!)
The David Jun edition TAO3 had the front mounted motor, but the newer TRF model had the motor in the rear.
Try both the positions for the motor, see which one you prefer!

how about getting another gearbox that you put the motor in and you can have a twinned engine ta03 :D

;D Tut! Tut! Andrew! Did I see that you drive a Losi?
The TA03 did do very well at one time in the expert hands of David Jun, who's name is still seen around today (okay, occasionally!)
The same could be said that any chassis could win in the hands of an expert, and that was when Tamiya started to show a winning streak...
I can say that when I raced my TA03 many moons ago... I had to spend serious money on Titanium screws and such like to get it down to fighting weight.
The chassis could do well... I couldn't! ;D
All that said, that was then... Now I'm trying to make a kicker of a front wheel drive with my pristine TRF and Pro bits and pieces. I'll keep you posted!

its back at the front my belt rubs ob the motor can

;D There is a bearing that is supplied with the 'rear' motored version that carries the belt off the motor... There's a hole on the plastic housing where it is located. Quite easy to sort, I'm sure ;D ;D

i moved my motor back to the front. hopefully i might have better controllable steering. plus i didn't like thinking about that belt rubbing on the motor when the motor was in the back...lol

You have a very versatile chassis, as you can, in essence, run it as a front wheel drive, with the rear 'kicking in' if the front wheels slip (which most FWDs do). This is done by using one of the smaller belt pulleys at the front and the larger at the rear... It does work, I've tried it ;D
PS
Perhaps you didn't see my earlier thing that the belt can be carried off the motor with bearings in the rear position. ;)
