Hi Guys
Just finished rebuilding my mardave v12 and have a slight issue with the steering.
On full lock the thread on the bottom of the steering balljoints(v7mod) catches on the top of the suspension wishbones,
Should i just trim the excess thread of the bottom of the balljoints or is there something else i should do?
Cheers
Adrian

I run my wishbones upside down and just use a dremel to cut a little notch in the top of wishbone so it passes easily.

The last thing you want to happen is it to get caught up on full lock racing around the track catching and not be able to straighten the steering again.

I`ve never had a problem with making it weaker.

theoretically you shouldnt need that much longer but i agree that if you get a shunt it might go past that point. all you need to do is just get a small file and file away the bottom of the bolt. although not a great deal of weakening will occur when filing the wishbone, it is quite a tender part of the car anyway so you want to keep as much of it there as possible.

Alternatively you could fit a 1mm spacer under the ball stud which is required to eliminate "bump steer" from the standard setting (including v7 mod), resulting in only minor notching required to the wishbone to achieve steering clearance.

i run mardaves around a circuit (not oval ) and wondered if other racers use full std front springs or do you adapt them by cutting down and pack out with wahers

would like to know your thoughts

We run on a circuit too, and the front ends are run as kit (ie to brca 12th oval hot-rod rules)

Have to run as kit, to be BRCA legal. i.e no mods. Washers can be added, but I wouldnt expect you could get away with modifiying the A-arms, alternatively use less lock.
if you have one, set the EPA up on your tranny? (End point adjustment)
