i am currently using side by side battery packs in my tc3 with deans connectors. this is very un-neat coz the fact that i've had to solder wires onto the battery packs to the female deans connector.
i am wanting to use corally connectors but you cant just solder the corally connector onto the end of the cells because it doesnt fit into the tc3 tub chassis, so i need to know what to use so that the packs will fit in the car with corallys. i have heard that a bent battery bar works well then solder the connector onto that. anyone got ne ideas on what i should be doing and also which battery bars i shud be using etc etc.
i kno i rambled on a bit but i hope everyone understands wot i am gettin at! lol

Thats not actually true, if you solder the corrallies on "high" or offset, they will fit OK

Or you can use bars as you described. Any bar will do, try to make the bend curved, some bars have a habit of cracking if you make a sharp bend.

i have now changed my cells to the same as shown in the first photo. i have also changed from deans to corally connectors and i can definitely notice a performance difference!

hi guys,
sorry its late,

cells in my tc3

I notice the steering arangement is not like mine in the TC3, ???
It looks like a swing arm instead of the slider which collects dust/grit/twigs/etc.
Is it available? :-

Back on thread - I used to fit my corallys like that but they made the waterproof overtray stand proud so I now fit a 1" length of 'motor' wire to the cell with the corally on the other end, Gives it bit of flex also for when I hit something hard. ::)

hi,
ahhh you noticed it! yeh it is the ntc3 steering configuation/swing rack.
will post a website with all the instructions on when i remember the site.

i do the same on some of my batteries, using corallys on a length of wire, then heatshrinked of course;-)

hi guys,
sorry its late,

I wouldn't do it like that though, if the male plug starts to wear it will drop out of the female when you crash.

Of course I do not crash so I have no way of knowing ::)

mine are done very similar to this and iv hav never had or heard of any problems with this method. i havr the connectors on the shaft side of the battery mounting sapce. i think it looks abit neater 8)

thats a great site

i did the steering mod
battery mod
servo mod
and opened the hole under the motor

<edit> if you do the cell slot mod you wont need to change the cell connectors

just a thought

wow, extremely interesting site dude!
i'm gonna get a dremel tool and go for it lol!
my tc3 always pulls to the left on accellerating so maybe the battery mod could solve my problem.
b3 buggy, do you have any sites like that for the b3 buggy as i am using one of those at the moment aswell!!!!!!!!
cheers

Thanks Ross,
I agree, That is an interesting site, Yes it looks like the chassis is going to get an introduction to Mr. Dremel

yo guys wen doin the batterymod u need to be mega careful. I found it near imposible using a dremel so i attached a dremel bit to a pillar drill and made a stop out of wood so i cud onli go to exactly halfway on the centre brace. Remember prepare b4 dont just jump in an try it its alot more difficult than it looks.
Hope this helps Phil C.

Andy Oldman

will bring the modded one to the next meeting(12th jan)

hi,
phil c: believe that is the method it shows on the modification link. you would be a brave man to do it by hand! but it can be done.

Will be taking arrival of my Warpspeed Demon2 in the the next week, cannot be bothered to spend all that time,it already has the holes for the ntc3 swing arm. ;D

anyway this has gone a little off topic, sorry my fault :-X

hi guys,
just remembered these pics I had, talk about machining a chassis ::) ;D

machined chassis 1 (http://hometown.aol.co.uk/B3BUGGY/Chassis01.jpg)

machined chassis 2 (http://hometown.aol.co.uk/B3BUGGY/Chassis04.jpg)

and before anyone asks it isnt mine ;D, wish it was :-X, but i believe you can order one from the guy who did that one, cannot remember the exact price but it as under a ton.

Edit: Just remembered he lives in austria!

Nick M: no sorry i dont have one for the b3, if i find one i will post it up.

nicholas mitchell
06-01-2004, 10:03 PM
wow that chassis has been like super machined! it looks a bit like a losi xxxs chassis with the criss-cross type effect going on!

Colin Williams
07-01-2004, 12:48 PM
Looks cool, but I'm not sure I can see the point in all that machining, as you need to add weight to the TC3 FT to make it meet BRCA weight anyway.

Certainly the battery slots have been moved closer to the centre, but as for the rest of it???
