Hi all
I'm looking to buy an Assasin now that the price has dropped.
What are they like as standard? Any flaws/ weak spots?
Basically, I want to know why I should buy this car over the other cars - the sales speech!
Thanks, Liam

Hi Liam
as standard they are VERY good, the only optional part you will need to get is the 4deg front caster blocks (they come with 0deg) and may be the front diff (it comes with a 1 way) but that depends on how you drive it.
run it in motor rear 2 belt set up for indoor, 1.5 or 2 deg rear toe in and set the rest as per the instructions.
the only weak parts were the front stearing arms but they have now been changed

Thanks Andy! :)
My Assasin just turned up this morning, and what a car! I have never seen anything like it, the quality is absolutely flawless.
I would like to run the direct drive as I run stock motors, but I have heard that I can't run a small enough pinion to get the gearing right, is this true?
Anything I should look out for when building it? Any little tips or tricks?

Liam, I think you might get some "strange" handling running the direct drive. I'm sure someone will update you if they have any personal experience.

also, why could you anti-cipate strange handling characteristics with the direct drive?
is it because the rear wheels with get power before the fronts?

listen to andy saywer and run two belts , hes ran it plenty in direct drive and is alot quicker with 2, the weight position isnt right with 1 either.

kev'll be your best bet for something THAT heavy... what with my car having a T-bar and all ;D ;D ;D
MattW... this has me intruiged, as isnt it the same for the mission? only not AS direct as the corally 1 belt design?
thanks

Matt,
Gear drive to the rear of a Mission was tried some time ago it just seemed to make the car really snappy coming out of corners. I guess thats also why Andy S has sidelined it in his Assasin.

and im guessing the "snappyness" (if thats a word ;D) is because of the car effectively for a split second, being rear wheel drive.
i see, all makes sense now.
liam, run 2 belts :P ;D ;D ;D

Try both and see what you like. Someone should give the direct drive a go in wet that would see if you could drive a car

I'm fairly new to all this technical stuff, but have had my Assassin for a while.
Am I right in thinking this odd handling only occurs while running the front one way? - I am running a front diff. after not coping at all, with direct drive and a front one way? The handling seemed some what twitchy and unpredictable! I am finding the handling with a front diff. (at my level of driving skill, or lack of) really good and confidence inspiring.
Cheers

Ran the car last Saturday. Kit setup terrible for carpet/foams, thicker oil needed and shock positions changed. Front one way about to get junked aswell, doesn't suit fairly small carpet tracks.
Handling got better and better but really bad interference spoilt my day!
When I have some more money i'll get a front diff then i'll be sorted!

Is your 12th ready for the nationals this weekend Keith?

Guys - I did test a direct drive system on a Mission mid-season for Schumacher. Rob F was at Snett that day and described the handling as "like having a one way in the rear". Power on oversteer coming out of corners - and yes it must have been the rear wheels getting power a fraction before the fronts.
Didn't make it onto the Mi2 kit as a result...
