OK, have you seen it, there is a picture of it on the live results page for the Euro TC champs.

All alloy, machined, and a VERY different brush setup, was wondering if anyone had any news on it yet, and if it is in use??

They have been advertising it for about a year now, but this is the first time they have really shown up in competition.
They were going to call them V2, but it seems they will now call them Orion Revolution.
There was a conversation somewhere about the merits of angled brushes etc.
All the hype and it is still Reedy's at the top of qualifying.

GLYN. Greetings from Malta.

Now that's a very noble statement coming from someone like you.

Well done.

I was under the impression that because of the bumpy nature of the track the Orion drivers were using the Core can and endbell?

I would have agreed with you there, but not after yesterday when I drove almost flawlessly all day but had no power so struggled to get a quick run in (Triple Sprint A-final anyone...). You need to be as quick as everyone else, anything in excess of that is irrelevant...

Years of racing stock motors tells me, that is you are racing against people of the same salive, sorry Caibre, then power is EVERYTHING, and how you manage t put it down on the track!!!

Do they use this new endbell then?

glyn ward

yes they used new end bell sorry but if motor and cells are good, your car cannot be carrying corner speed 1mph round corner faster = a lot more speed down straight. we keep coming back to this but setup is paramount then driving then batts and motors. i raced scale on sunday at broxtowe ran 17d on 2000 in yok car was plenty fast enough but my driving let it down. antony broke his car in first a final used mine for 2nd started at back of grid and fin 6th, motor had not been out all day it had done 50min runing before he used it.

I used the new endbells at the off road euros and I gotta say, they are a really good bit of kit.

In 2wd I did a run with the old style set up (with an 13x2) then put the new endbell on. It made no difference low down, but really increased power in the mid and top end ranges. Also made the response really nice, "linear" is Oscars word for it, and I guess thats pretty spot on.

In 4wd I always just want as much power as possible, and he managed to get a new style motor to work for me much better than the traditional style ever has. Seems like a torquier arm is more versatile with the new endbell.

The only negative thing about the endbell, is the fact he didn't let me take any home for bury this weekend!!

Do you know if they have ANY plans on using this on their stock motors, in either the form they are now, or moulded???

What was the brush wear and runtime like compared with the conventional endbell layout??

richard_cree
19-08-2003, 11:01 PM
I believe there will be a moulded version for stocks and they will be available any day soon, but don't quote me on that!

Run time is hard to say, because on off road dirt a change in shock oil ultimately affects your runtime, but it seemed pretty good.

In my 4wd my motor was skimmed a grand total of once. There was f all wrong with it, just got it done because I may as well. It looked almost like new.

My 2wd motor did 8 runs before the A final and looked like it hadn't been run.

Would that be down to the fact that you can run with softer springs on the motor, and STILL ge the same performance???

If so, then I think my money will be going on one of these fancy new Orion endbell stock motors.

Shame they wont do it with the Anodised Alloy endbell, that would be REALLY trick!!!

I saw a picture of one of these sometime last year and it had a fan screwed to the end.

Is this the right thing im thinking off. Im sure it is.

Is the fan still there or have they done away with it now?

Dave, Depends. If they are using the same can then it would also be the same as the V2 motor. Seems like it might be the same can, but with a new sticker.

Looks like there are about 4 versions.

"normal", "touring", "Atsushi Hara ed", "jukka Sterari ed".

Not sure what the differences are apart from end bell colour and sticker.

More info on the Orion site.

The new pictures on the Orion website make it look like a work of art!! The attention to detail is great, the brush mountings are the same design as the Orion logo!!

From what I can see I think they are out now!

Re the different types.

My interpretation is as follows:

Two basic types: the Modifed - for offroad
Touring Modified - for onroad

Then the Jukka and Hara "special" ones - i THINK these are pro-series ones, maybe slightly more expensive with a different brush and spring than the others - Jukka one for offroad and Hara for onroad.

just got back from worlds where i was running the new Orion/Peak motors. Once again they ran absolutely flawlessly, Marcus Lubke made the A and ran the finals with a 10 turn motor that was 14 runs old. After the event it was stripped and still didn't need skimming.

Oscar was able to tune my 14x2 for 2wd to make it so smooth that I could punch it out of turns with minimal wheelspin and yet it would still pull wheelies in the faster sections of the track. I've never had a powerband so useable on clay before.

I really can't recommend these motors highly enough!!

Read a thread in their chat section, the Jukka and Hara versions have different arms. for more power but less efficiency. It is also probable that these will come with the 'sprint' compound brush and the 'normal' versions will use the 'enduro' setup.

Cheers.

Hello,

I am very proud to be welcome in your message board ! I hope my English is not too bad ... I learned it from school and more from my RC friends ...

I will be pleased to be able to reply if I can, in fact I was searching feedback of people having used the new Revolution motors. It is so different that it is really interesting to have the feedback of actual users.

Also how do you like the packaging vs the traditional blisters ?

I would like to thank all of you in avance for any feedback and for accepting me here, I am not here to make promotion, but to exchange informations.

Thank you and have a great week-end,

Philippe

Hello everyone. It's nice to be in the UK, even if just in cyberspace.

The Revolution will be the basis for a new stock motor to be released early next year and will include many, if not all, of the features included in the modified version.
