Hi All

need an answer to the following, how do i get more corner entry steering from the G3, would i be right in raising the front beam below the springs??, also has anybody tried using the T-bar pivots on the front of the G3 beam as per the new 12M and then shimming for the desired caster angle?? any thoughts on the above would be appreciated

Jason :)

here are some links to one of our tracks we change the design every race

I don't know the G3 at all, but if i wanted more corner entry steering on my 12M i would try and reduce the caster. You might also be able to try a softer tyre on the front.

less castor
more adative, for longer
use the "coral" front beam instead of the graphite
softer fronts
thinner/more flexible t-bar
a different bodyshell, like a HB ferrari etc

my G3 used to be really good :D

Thanks for the input, unfortunately my club does not allow additive for the tyres so were stuck there, currently run ufra pink soft rear med front or corally silverstar fronts, can anyone tell me the difference of caster between the RC12L3 and the G3 as the L3 seems to have far more turn in cant match it with the same tyres on the G3.

Jason

ps did you like the track??

I also race a corrally without addative but with a 12M, I found the same thing(ie. mink meds and silvers give little turn in) I now use golds on the front, the Associated, Trinity, and Calandra drivers swear by silvers. I tried messing about with the setup but it made the handling awful I found it best to just use a gripier tyre with the steering rate turned down.

At the present time most of the drivers at the High Wycombe club (non addative) use the UFRA SE med on the rear as it was found to be an improvement over the Pink Soft.

take matts advice and get hold of a hot bodies ferrari, this shell gives buckets full of front end and looks the part too,

run coral beam as its got a tad more flex than the graphite beam

you could always try lowering the front pivot balls( available from most good corally stockists pm me for stockists.

Putting shims under the spring part of the beam will give less castor and improve turn in, but you would loose ride height
as you (and Ian) say putting the tbar pivots on the front woud also allow you to vary caster by using shims, probably the best route to take.

Ok this is the result, tried a different tyre combo using se mediums front and rear, tried this for the first heat no changes to the chassis (not to many changes at once!) seemed to be better straight off, as a result i wont be bothering to much with the other mods as i have secured a second hand 12M which should be here soon.

thanks for your input

Jason ;D
