HI can anyone help me with my d5 flatliner?
It seems to have lost it's top end the punch is still there but wont rev like it used to.
I have skimmed the comm twice and installed new brushes each time but it is still bad.
It has had about 32 races so any ideas would be very helpful. :)

are your bearings lubed and running free?
are you soldering the brushes to the brush hood or where ever or just using them screw things?
this is gonna sound obvious but are you using the correct brushes as D5 ones are slightly bigger than normal brushes for other motors.
i have done this in my D5 before :-[ and it made it total crud :-[ :-[
also, the duel shunt ones are better (the ones that come in it originally, don't use the rubbishy spare ones)

Hi thanx for reply.
My bearings are ok.
I've tried high silver brushes and those spare ones.
The brushes are screwed in for now i'll try soldering them one.

yer, i have always soldered mine on but make sure you get a good joint or you will not noticed no difference.
make sure you don't get a 'cold joint' they are high resistance.
this matters more in batteries but still on motors etc.
if the solder looks really dull and greyish, you probably have a cold joint.
hope it helps ;)

my D5 was like this at one stage, all i did was a proper FULL rebuild
skim,
change brushes
spray motor cleaner everyhere!
re-lube bearings
re-shim the motor into the centre of the magnetic field
just do everything, properly, and check it twice.
thats what i did, and it solved my problem.
make sure you only put the high silver content brushes in the D5, the spare pair that comes with the motor are the copper ones and they are just terrible, alot less power and they destroy the comm. the brushes i always use are the 4379epnt high silver, dual shunt, no tags. they are good for 3/4 races max before you need to change the brushes again as after that time it just gets slower....

i beg to differ with BT, those spare brushes are excellent for 12th scale. ;)
