Different between Precision & Precision Ceramic bearing

I am about to upgrade my SD bearing. Can anyone explain the different between Precision & Precision Ceramic bearing. Precision Ceramic bearing cost almost double than the Precision bearing !

Ceramic bearings are made of ceramic, the other bearings will be made of some kind of metal.

Ceramic bearings are supposedly smoother - the balls inside are smoother and rounder than their metal counterparts.

But at twice the price...

I think you will find that the balls inside the bearing have a cermaic coating which is extremely hard, just like some bearings just use steel, and then others, as the price goes up, have different coatings.

The plus side of it is that if you have ceramic coated balls and race, corrosion should NEVER be an issue, and lubrication can be kept to a minimum, and wear VERY little.
