i no this wil of been asked somewhere else, but i cudnt find it.
there has been lost of people saying that the yoke sd3 (black version of ssg) come tweaked and i dont see how this can be possible. and is it possible to by the black version without a front one way as every where i hav looked they dont sel it.
Thanks

Cars don't come tweaked. People build them tweaked, or let them get tweaked through poor maintenance.
If you want a car without a front one-way - try buying from a UK shop, as the UK cars come with a diff.

the black version is supposed to be stiffer than the ssg where the sgg is stronger (the alluminium in it)

you are kidding?? surely the very tiny layer of aluminium in the ssg chassis wont make the chassis any stronger? its less than a sheet of foil thickness...maybe some bacofoil will add strength to my chassis...lol

just what i was told by this person that works for this company that makes carbon fibre bike frames, etc.

thanks alot but another quck question
on the black version to you need to file the slots in the chassis for the batteries so they fit in better or is this already done.
cheers

You need to file.
basicly..
i ran a friends yoke sd at the hpi inddor british winter series yesterday. and the car was absoulutly great. best car i have ever driven. im having a bit of bother with my current car. reason for borrowing the yoke off of my friend, (thanks fabien) so i am baring the yoke in mind. what are the differences between the black and the silver version
thanks for any help AL

Just the chassis/shock tower material. Black is a touch stiffer. SSG is more *bling* - although I think everyone in the world has seen SSG now, so you won't be turning many heads any more...

SSG is NOT stronger or stiffer than normal carbon. The layers are there to prevent the resin to be altered by the UV's and thus prevents the material from loosing its mechanical caracteristics with time.
The reason why SSG is softer (for a same thickness) is that the aluminium has poor mechanical characteristics compared to carbon fibres. This plus the fact that it also alters the material's integrity and maybe the resin does not stick to it as well as on carbon, gives a softer material.

I told you you're welcome.
I believe a SSG chassis with the graphite gear cases will definately be stiffer than the Black SD with stock gear cases. A friend of mine runs his SD (it's a black version) and told me the graphite gear cases gives a LOT of strength.
I should try them, but have other projects and anyway am out of money and they're rather expensive.

it will take a loooooooooooong time for the UV's to affect it.

Really ?
How many time does it takes them to burn your skin without protection ?
i thought that the silver version came with plastic bits and the black onecomes with graphite bits
bits meaning wishbones hubs ect...
cheers al ;)

That would be a bit harsh if they are both the same price. anybody actually broken a wishbone yet? The yokomo is a stiff enough car any without it using ssg or standard carbon fibre, and seeing as some of the team drivers have been taking out the middle strengthening bar to get more twist in the chassis I doubt it is going to make much difference which one you buy. Remember it wasn't to long ago that yokomo were producing cars with a shock in the middle of the topdeck to aid handleing on rubber tires, The stiffness of the car wasn't an issue back then when people were buying them in there thousands so why should it make a difference now? At the end of the day if you want to look cool buy the black one, and if you want to look like everyone else buy the silver one ;D
so the conclusion is...
the black one is exactly the same as the silver 1 but where that is silver. this one is black.
right got it !!!
AL ;)
No the conclusion is.... This is DRIVEL
errrrrrrr NO im just coming to a conclusion i was a bit confussed. ok

thats a good thing, i don't get burnt ;D :P 8)
i always seem to go brown.
anyway, the UV rays affect the reson wekaning it right. so you leave it out in the sun for a couple of days and i bet u still don't notice the difference 8)
it will take sooooooo long for the UV rays to affect the reson in the chassis.
and say if your racing, you don't race for days on end with the chassis exposed (like without a shell on) do you. so it will take longer than my patience allows to get that chassis affected
the uv efect seems to be a load of rubbish to me !!!

it is true but you won't get enough UV rays to affect the resin without the resin being able to correct its seld.
if you get what i mean.
on something so small, and something that is not exposed long enough then yes AL, it is a load of rubbish.

The resin wont correct itself, the effects of UV exposure are cumulative. However, I would agree it would take a very long time (years) before the effects were noticable.

Hmm many years of being in direct sunlight 24/7 me thinks. ;) I still have a carbon chassied Lazer Zx-R, it doesn't seem to be suffering from global warming yet ;D.

Yep not the best excuse for adding an ali sheet to the mix, lets face it, it was put there to look pretty, though I would have thought gold, or even a chamelion effect would have looked much better!

Ahhhh but the Barracuda R3 comes with a glitter flecked chassis.... I guess the molecular density of glitter must be higher than alu sheet and better at warding off effects of the dangerous suns Rays ...!
I guess the RAYSpeed chassis actually harnesses the suns rays to make the SD faster ...... goddness knows I am willing to try anything ..!!!
;D ;D ;D

I think this thread has run it course and the origional question answered
1. Chassis dont come tweeked they are built tweeked
2. Buy in the UK for a front diff

If you want a front diff, you can also buy form the USA. I'll trade someone a front diff for a one-way. ;D
Black > Silver. The black is wayyyyy the heck cooler. The UV rays, put a pair of sunglasses on the car. ;D
